The English Premier League is swimming in cash. Maybe they can send some of it cycling's way and have a premier league club sponsor the team. One in particular could be a great 'fit' ...

Albe liking it a lot. But what about a new bike brand while you are at it?

Perhaps a much "lighter" version of the Buffalo Bicycle can be manufactured :whistling:

Glad to see the last few comments are more reasonable.  I think we need to be more congratulatory of MTN.  Most cycling sponsors don't stick around for more than 1 cycle.  Where is US Postal, Discovery, Rabobank (Men's), eBanesto etc.

I think MTN have serious problems.  It is hard to justify spending R70m on the cycling team when they are laying off thousands of staff members.  But on the other note they do need to keep advertising or the loss of customers will get worse.  Vodacom dominate in local sponsorship and advertising and have the juiciest sports.  MTN need to catch a wake up as even Cell C are more innovate and targeted these days.

Agree with you but Rabobank withdrew after sponsoring the team for 16 years due to doping in the sport. They stil sponsor a ladies and development squad .

MTN has assisted the team to get here so now they can over a to the next sponsor with team in god place

Thank you MTN for the support and all you have done for South African / African cycling.

Looking forward to the next chapter and bigger and better things from the team... Perhaps Dimention Data and World Tour status?

I get Doug Ryders desire to want to keep the racing license from South Africa. I however don't understand why he wouldn't want a foreign title investor. Make Keeping this license South African as a stipulation, but then with the currency surely an investor from Europe, the UK or even the States would be advantageous. Surely that way there will be more funds to keep our international stars and attract more and be sustainable for a longer period of time than a local sponsor having to deal with the terrible exchange rate which could cost them 15 - 20times more than a foreign investors. Never mind the great PR of supporting Qhuebeka and its African charity.

Just my thoughts.

It's business, not charity. The warm and fuzzy thing has run its course. Now if they want to play with the big dogs, they need Euros not Randelas...

100 million! MTN sponsorship. Wow it would be very interesting to see a rough breakdown of costs.

we can start with around R13m to EBH
