Hi Guys

 

Any recommendations to whom can assist with an injury ?

 

This morning I am experiencing a bit of pain in my lower leg when walking, on previous occasions the some spot was sensitive but I guess the resting helped.

If I read the symptoms on the internet a possible cause can be stress fractures but will rather prefer the opinion of a professional.

 

Should I go to someone like Mike at SBR Sport where I did the pro nation check or should I go to a GP ?

A GP wont be of much help and a running specialist of no help what so ever. Go to a phisio asap. Im out with a stress reaction for 12 weeks now, part due to google diagnosis. Stop running, go to a phisio and do the rehab. And whenever you start running again stop immediately with the slightest pain.

Not saying its shin splints or a sf, but mine also started like that. Tried to run it off, big mistake. I then took off 3 weeks and it felt fine, I could even run comfortably again, but it suddenly came back after one fast run, stupid again. Resting it properly now and doing rehab. When Im able to start running again it will be for 3 minutes a day and slowly working it up.

 

I had some other injuries before, nothing is as frustrating as shin splints, not really sore but you are constantly aware of it. And it can turn into a nightmare in no time.

I will be there, tough race. I am using it as a training run, no time expectations.

 

Same here, will be my first time running it going to use the race as some serious hill and character training.

on a personal note, This morning was my 1sr "Long" run since September. Only 13km but man it felt good to be running this length of time without injury.  

That is awesome news!! I do believe that you should be thankful and grateful for every good run you have, no matter the distance or speed.

Anybody completed both the trail and the ultra the next day in the Two Oceans?

I ran the trail run last year... it's a brute. Serious steep climbs etc, I'd put it on a par with your average marathon in terms of a challenge, despite it being just 24kms. I reckon you need to be pretty hardcore to attempt both.

I have a friend that did it last year. I only did the trail and it was hard for me, but it did not help that I was ill on the day.

 

We actually talked about it recently and she said Ultra was a bit tougher - I think she said esp on the uphills. She actually ran pretty much her usual time somehow...  :eek:

 

She specifically entered for both and used it as training for Hobbit.
