Haha... and so I took to the bike yesterday. First time back on the roadbike since last year's (disastrous) Argus. Second time on any bike this year...

Oh that trip around the Peninsula is going to be... interesting!

Ran Pirates 21km yesterday... very lekker race. That first 14km's though is pretty much pure hell... even had to have a little walk somewhere on Northcliff where I convinced myself it would be no slower than running.

Fast finish though so for some reason after running the hard part chilled I decided to push it the last 7km's to get a decent time. Snuck in under 2hours - happy with my legs, just need to up the midweek mileage a bit... that's the only place I'm letting myself down I feel.

Lining up a 30km in the cradle this Sat before big weeks out at the Vaal where I want to get my seeding up and then Om die Dam two weeks later (with a little bike ride in the Cape sandwiched inbetween)

Good luck for the week ahead gents, Comrades is nudging closer - time to crank up the miles I guess

Well done Andrew, a sub 2 at Pirates is excellent. I ran my worst 21km but I wasn't planning for anything else. Not feeling great, but at least I felt better than Johnsons and my legs were fine to the end.

Stressing about Om Die dam, 50km seems very far at the moment.

I am running Deloittes 21km on Sunday. Another tough half marathon and then Vaal Marathon the 5th of March. I haven't done Vaal before but I have heard it is very flat.

Are you guys riding Argus?

It's all time in the legs Hacc... time in the legs

Vaal is super flat and although laps, it just doesn't bother me like usual (for whatever reason).

Vaal will set you up nicely for Om die Dam

Riding Argus... will be my first bike ride of the year, going to ride with a mate and have a laugh

Can anyone recommend a good Physio in the fourways\Sandton\Randburg area? My ITB is acting up and I want to get it sorted out as quickly as possible.

My wife swears by her physio Kirsten Morse at the Cornerstone Medical Centre (It's Lonehill Fourways area) 011 465 2419 - she's apparently on leave until Weds though.

For ITB though I would recommend you see a Bio after the physio though to fix whatever imbalance is causing it to flare up. As per most of us cyclists you'll probably have relatively weeker glutes, inner thigh muscle and hamstrings

The sooner you get it sorted the better though - it doesn't fix itself or come right

Yes Pirates was a tough one on that never ending climb up Northcliff, also had to have a little walk on some of the steeper bits.  Fast finish was nice to stretch the legs and finished on 2hrs (and a few seconds).  Was a nice training run and hill work.  Enjoyed the race :)

Start strenghning your glutes while you wait for the phisio. 10 min a day of glute specific exercises and your itb will be gone in no time.

And rest to clear up the inflamation.

Also managed to squeak in under 2 hours for Pirates, cycled 170km on Saturday so those Northcliff hills got super spicy with tired legs. Good race though.

Was the same, did a 120km ride and 5km brick run on Saturday, so was feeling it on those slopes.
