Does anyone have or know of someone that is looking at getting rid of their Loskop Ultra entry?

Maybe ask on the Comrades Facebook page. I think you might get lucky in the next week or so.

Thinking about doing my first event longer than 21km with either the 32km Cradle of humankind or Colgate 32km, which would you suggest is the better event?

I ran my PB at the Cradle 21 (Haven't done the 32km as yet) - I like rolling hills. Colgate is very very flat... So it depends on which type of route you prefer. I also prefer the Cradle scenery... at Colgate, you run thru industrial areas.

I despise downhills, so colgate it is then.

Our house has a thatch roof and therefore we have a lightning conductor outside. The top "spike" is missing, meaning there is a nice flat circular base at the top that an owl likes to use as a lookout point while its partner prefers to sit in the top of a tree about 15m from my upstairs bedroom window. They sit there for 10-30min sometimes and "talk" to each other, my wife hates it but i love it. i find the sounds tranquil.

This morning on my run i ran to a different suburb than i normally do. It's slightly dodgy and only has a few streets with lighting but to get to it you have to cross a 1.5km pitch black road with no shoulder nor pavement. Anyway, as i got to the turnaround point , low and behold, there was Mr. Owl himself. Instantly creating the hughest smile on my face and the whole way back i was in such a relaxed mindset it was wonderful, that was till my knee started hurting. Once i got home i told the wife about the Owl and she said its outside, and there they both were. Mrs. Owl at the top of the lightning conductor and Mr.Owl on his perch in the tree top although still darkish outside the silhouette was unmistakable. In mid "conversation" Mrs. Owl looked down at me which was a first.

So that was my morning Run, sorry if it bored you but i thought i should share it and maybe it might have a positive effect on someone who needs it today.

I will also be doing colgate ,  but only the 15km . Its only a few km away from my place so no need to wake up at the crack of dawn

Is a double lap from the stadium around the area.... not quite flat from what I remember.... you need to make hills and downhills your friends !!

Hills i don't mind its the downhills i dislike (Knee pain issues), but like you say i need to get use to all types of terrain. I'm busy with gym work to strengthen my quads which the bio says will help with the knee pain.

owls are probably my favourite bird..you should be lucky to see one regularly and even luckier to see two!

have you considered and owl box to try and promote them to mate?
