Stretch Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 You find shoes okay? If so, from where? My last 2 pairs i've bought off amazon. But I know my brand and my size thats a US12 UK11
dave303e Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 Can any of you recommend a decent waterproof but relatively lightweight running jacket? I mailed the Skyrun guys and they responded that it needs to be a minimum of 5,000mm waterproof. Bizzarely, K-Way, who sponsors the event, only has a 3,000mm jacket. I know there's the Salomon Bonati but it comes with a pretty hefty price tag. If you can find a first ascent ARX jacket they are pretty solid hey but seems like they not selling them but am sure you can find old stock. The North Face Venture is also good but also pricey, rain jackets last for years though so it is worth getting a good one. My 2 racing ones are 3 and 6 years old now... Dunno if you saw the skyrun camp was run in the snow this last weekend, don't take risks on that route, those mountains nearly killed me, sadly more than once. Barry Stuart 1

Unless specific requirements forces your hand, try and ride it out until a new version comes out... and it's about this time of year I bought mine, maybe a bit later. They tend to then want to get rid of the old one. Fortunately they had my size... (And I actually preferred the colour to the then new one!) Edited September 13, 2018 by SeaBee Barry Stuart 1

Super lightweight, great fit, I love it. Barry Stuart 1
_David_ Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 With Berlin Marathon happening on Sunday does anyone think the official Marathon world record be broken? Current record of 2:02:57 set at Berlin in 2014 by Dennis Kimetto WR is coming. " ScottCM and Ronniek 2
Mudsimus Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 WR is coming. https://twitter.com/EliudKipchoge/status/1039785323679690752?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw"I've been following some of his training recently. Its just insane. Running 10 x 1km repeats starting at 2m40/km and going progressively faster. He is not human. ScottCM, _David_, shaper and 2 others 5

Yeah, their recommendation was 9,000mm to 13,000mm. Hopefully no snow on the day as I'm already a little bit out of my depth.

Which distance are you dong? This is serious bucket list for me. Have you done long self nav and (fully)self supported runs before?
Barry Stuart Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 Which distance are you dong? This is serious bucket list for me. Have you done long self nav and (fully)self supported runs before? I'm doing the 65km but I haven't done any nav work (still got time to work on that) yet. Might need to practice in the Karkloof next week (Jess is doing the 50 miler). I've done self supported training runs up to about 35km so far but only on road. Plenty of work still to do! Chris_ 1

CobusV Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 My last 2 pairs i've bought off amazon. But I know my brand and my size thats a US12 UK11 My whole adult life I was a UK11 size. It used to irritate the crap out of wife if we went to Edgars to buy shoes. We would walk in and I would grab a size 11, pay and walk out. According to her that is not how "shopping" works... But these days, I must try it on. Nike UK11 is fine. Saucony UK11 used to be fine, but for the Freedoms I had to go for the UK12. New Balance for the Zante 1 UK11.5 was fine, but for the Zante 3 I must use the UK12. So no more Poobie Naidoo for me...

Barry Stuart Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 I see it more of an adventure, than a race. Likewise, definitely going to take my time to pause and appreciate the views. Chris_ and ArthurPTA 2
