Mudsimus Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 Everyone's alarms set for 6am tomorrow?Probably the whole SA.
ridr Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 (edited) Actually, ZWIFT is something I have been doing some research on lately as I kit out a home gym. I am probably going to get the RUNN device and set it up on our treadmill. Seems to be the easiest way to go about it. Just install it once and BOOM - Smart treadmill. I like the Stryder POD, but can't face paying that amount of money for it. Has anyone actually been running on Zwift (the last post in this thread about it was 2018) ?I'm also planning to buy the RUNN, once the exchange rate improves probably. I also like the simplicity for using it for the whole family. And I like that it can broadcast incline. I don't think any other device can do that currently. Edited April 30, 2020 by ridr
Chris_ Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 Do you need to wear a mask while exercising? You're supposed to wear a mask 100% of the time in public spaces. I don't have the exact wording here but I'm certain thats the gist of it. So yes, that would include exercise too I reckon.

Each family member has own Zwift profile with an iPad and we each took a turn to run. Was super easy.  Only downside so far is that the iPad does not pick up my heart rate. shaper 1

Im probably going to get the zwiftpod or maybe the Garmin 245, it links with Zwift as well.

Mokgaga'a mmakubela! Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 i would still wear a buff or mask even if it was not a legislative requirement. I don't want to be inhaling coronavirus (and G_d know what else!) from other runners, cyclists, commuters, etc. It is not safe out thereÂ
Chris_ Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 I guess a Buff will work too? I use it at the shops and put a doubled tissue inside the fold, over the nose. Ja, anything really, as long as it covers your mouth and nose.
Mudsimus Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 I guess a Buff will work too? I use it at the shops and put a doubled tissue inside the fold, over the nose.A buff should be fine, I can run with a buff no problem. But I will pass out wearing a mask.
Wayne Potgieter Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 I am a huge fan of ALL Birds shoes. Originally a kiwi thing. I see they have launched an actual running shoe. https://www.runnersworld.com/gear/a32292816/allbirds-tree-dasher-running-shoe-review/ If these are half as good as my normal sneakers I wear, then they will feel amazing.
jdwet1980 Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 Zwift run does not control your treadmill incline yet. Bluetooth on a treadmill usually is for music and not speed transmitting, some do transmit so check beforehand. Dont buy a R300 foodpod, they all are shïtty.I have a trojan 510 Ironman treadmill, the quick buttons only goes up to 12km/h but if you press the speed up button it goes much higher, check yours. Zwiftpod is always a little bit off no matter how much you calibrate but it is still fun. If you dont have a pod download a treadmill bluetooth speed transmitter from the playstore. Only drawback is you cannot use the companion app the same time. Technogym is selling refurbished commercial treadmills. Have fun.
Mudsimus Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 In dont know wich one is harder, running with your face covered or running on the treadmill. Roads were quiet, only saw 3 other runners, 2 not wearing masks. I called 10111. My concern after 6 weeks on the treadmill was that my legs would feel a little dead, but it literally felt as if the ground moved under me. Weirdest sensation. And it was cold.
