what is the reason you fail?

Not judging...i think thats pretty natural for most, but maybe we can help?

What is your motivating factor?  Sure weight loss.

But I don't have that much weight to drop.  Maybe 5% and I am racing slim.....but at the moment I am within normal BMI range.

So if weight loss is not my motivation.....what else?  Healthy living?  For a nice preserved body at 99?  ;)

Hehhehehehe.

Bit tongue in cheek comments but I struggle to keep to a healthy eating plan........

We have cut out sugar from coffee/tea as well as day to day drinks like oros and iced tea etc.

I have stopped adding it to food and we have cut carbs almost completely.

My husband has dropped 6kgs in 2 weeks ???? granted we are training like demons possessed but my goodness how much sugar was he taking in without even knowing it ????

Me on the other hand haven't dropped a gram but I will stick to it ????????

I'm not an expert on this topic, but from what I gathered most of the illnesses associated with old age is due to an incorrect diet of which sugar and refined carbs are the biggest culprits.

I don't necessarily wants to get really old (like 90 plus) but I want to be healthy when I'm old. I want to be able to ride my bike, without any issues until the day that I "move on".

If this means that I have to give up or at least limit these sweet treats to the occasional parties to have an active and healthy old age, I'll do it without hesitation. In fact I am doing it.

last year was my dads 75 birthday and although he is rather healthy, some of his buddies are f&^ked up. Some of his friends and cousins that was there I really saw I long time ago as in 15 years and I was shocked to see how bad they look and what miserable lives they live due to ill health.

That party was the main reason I start to get my health in order. If I have to live one day in a wheelchair or in a bed due to incorrect eating, that is to much.

Don't want to highjack this thread but I've gone the opposite way. Added carbs and sugar to my diet and I have never been faster or lighter.

Ok, so there are a few threads dedicated to nutrition/weight loss/healthy living.

Most of them touch on the subject of the dangers of Sugar. But my search did not reveal a dedicated Sugar free thread.

As of today i have been sugar free for one month. It started as a challenge for the month of August, but I am really enjoying the benefits.

My whole family has gone sugar free....even the kids.

My son, aged 5, was on Ritalin for ADHD. We removed sugar completely and stopped his medication. We have not told his teacher. We recently had a 1 on 1 and she told us that he is performing very well and we must continue his medication. His OT said the same.

In both consultations we burst out laughing and explained what we had done. Both Teacher and OT were quite interested to know more and are very impressed with the results. it si still early days, but the signs are encouraging.

I have lost 4 kgs in the month and feel more alert than ever. My thought process seems clearer.

Is there anyone else on a similar journey?

Weird, I've had the exact same thing (minus the kids part) also for the last month. One month to the day actually. I concentrate and sleep better. I've also lost a few kilos without really trying (it wasn't the objective).

Keep it up, refined sugar is in just about everything.

I have quite a bit of load shedding to do myself. My biggest problem is not knowing what to do but following through.

Three issues I have:

1. Satiety.

I feel full very quickly after a no sugar minimal carb meal but get hungry quickly.

2. Palatibility

It takes some serious adapting of my tastebuds to take away the longing for that warm

   bread and sweet jam.

3. Affordability

You guys should look at www.iamsuperbar.co.za... It has no added sugar (only natural ones from the fruit) and its sustains one on long rides. I eat one bar over 100km with only water in my bottels. Not dry and not chewy, so nice on the go.

I am intrigued.

I checked the site, but cannot find any nutritional info.

Any chance you can post a photo of the label?

i use and swear by Single Track Fuel as an energy drink for my road rides.

Agree, of all the energy drinks I've used so far, this is the best. It doesn't taste that good though, but works like a charm.
