And to (try) to have the last word about where my observations ended up:

Always remember that the person who would proof read Hitler's speeches was literally a grammar Nazi.

Ok, I'll remember....

But that reminds me about the joke about the chap who tried to play golf at his club, but was told that he was only a Country Member....

it's my 1st post and I just want to say:

I went into the bike shop and they ignored me;

I went into the bike shop and they kept asking could they help;

I went into the bike shop and the whizzy thing was R5 more than on the internet;

I went into the bike shop and they wouldn't fix my bike while I was there;

I rode over a bump and my bike broke

I rode over a bump and my ass fell off

I gave a stranger loads of money for bike stuff and the box was empty / full of rusted bits / half-full of rusted bits / lost by the post office

I gave a stranger loads of money and now I want it back and they wont give it.

Feel free to add-on

I ordered myself a 3/4 sleeve riding top from chain reaction cycles around march.

The top never arrived after about 2 months. I contacted them, I ordered a diff one as the one I really wanted was sold out. Then yesterday the missing top is collected at the post office.

I email CRC saying that the top arrived at long last and I want to pay them.

They reply as a gesture of goodwill and for my honesty, I can keep the top for free.

I would love to know what % of the hub activity is 100% cycling related, such as traffic through the classifieds section, events section etc, versus the traffic through the comment forums such as this one where cycling is a backdrop and the common denominator (some times lowest!) that connects those making the comments.  Also, how big is this place?  Who am I? What is it all about?  I just don't know.

Here are some stats from August 2015 which gives an idea on the numbers and traffic split:

Unique visitors: 185,407

Traffic split (based on page views per section):

  • Home & News: 13%
  • Forums: 20%
  • Classifieds: 63%
  • Events: 4%

Within the forums the split is as follows (based on topic views):

  • Non cycling sections: 9%
  • Cycling sections: 91%
