why is SS so pleasing to ride?

Iv been riding a SS roadie for about 8 months now,use it for commuting and racing and alway's want to be on it.

In theory a geard bike should be much more pleasing to ride due to the ability to relieve strain and pressure by changing your gears and spinning.

However riding a SS just brings so much pleasure, there's a lot less to think about and things become so simple. When you hurting on a climb there's nothing you can do but wait till the gradient eases off, you meditate on rule #5 as they say and get on with it.

Riding a SS I really feel like I'm part of the bike and I enjoy the small quirks of riding more.

Why do you ride SS and what does it do for you?

I started riding SS because my gears always kept jumping, it anoyed me to the point where I took them off. Love the simplicity and low maintenence.

Also, as I am currently not strong enough to drag the extra weight of derailleurs, a cassette, shifters and a longer chain up the hills, a SS makes it much easier......

SS is the best bike for lazy riders. ..... I say this as a lazy rider myself.

With the ss you have push hard on the climbs so that it hurts less. You then get fitter and stronger.

Have to agree here...one of the few times riding out of the saddle for an extended period is actually more comfortable and you going a bit faster.

I can't afford to maintain 2 MTB geared drivetrains....

It makes me feel like a kid on a BMX, no thinking about gears or suspension settings, I can just ride.
