Mr X Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Tried many saddles including Ritchey Wcs Mtb Marathon, Selle Italia SLS and WTB Silverado but the 1 saddle that I will now use forever is the Prologq Nagq Evo x10 which I found to be in a class of its own..
AlanD Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Currently have a pro turnix and its a good saddle but not sure its the right saddle for me. Waiting for a spez henge that I bought so will see how that turns out. An expensive trial and error excersise butt worth it when you fimd the right one.
eccc whippet Posted October 19, 2015 Author Posted October 19, 2015 romin evo...now that i have done a bit of mileage and just finished my longest ride/race ever. i moved the saddle down in the front slightly and it works great if you in the race position...but when you sit up to take a break...the back feels to high...so i adjusted it back to make it level...it gets uncomfortable in the front. personally not the best suited saddle for me....i need to find a saddle which is flat from the front to the back...no dip in the middle.

And do a proper setup of all variables. Also understand that you get saddle fit - so what hurts like hell one week will fell blissful next week. FWIW there are muscles down there that get stronger. Moving saddle noses up and down and forward and backward without knowledge to try and find an optimal place through trial and error is , unless you keep a record of all things, not the best way. And those observations are subjective as well and influenced by shorts etc. Setup makes a huge difference and what seemed wrong on the saddle may seem right later on as you get fitter.

Selous Scout (aka LegTrap) Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 After having had 2 spinal fusions I tried several saddles,including the Gobi but after battling for some time tried a leather Brookes saddle and have never looked back. I only do mtb'ing.

eccc whippet Posted December 2, 2015 Author Posted December 2, 2015 Got a new bike and with it came a new seat ...lets try it out... put my old fox bib on because they have the worse chamois...less than 20 km later i realised how important it is to get a butt measure...the saddle on the new bike is a 145...big deal ?? hell yes...my sit bones measured at 143...by the time i got back i had to go find the baby bum cream once again...took the seat off the trek and fitted it...managed a 45 km ride last night with a little tenderness still from the short ride with the other seat...what an improvement. walking like a cowboy after a ride and dont have a decent bib...might just pay to go get your butt measured and make sure that your seat is not tooo small.
splat Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 I have a Fizik Antares on my road and mountain bike. The Gobi was too narrow for me on the mtb, while the Selle Italia Max Flite Gel Flow with the hole in the middle was too wide, soft and heavy. While the hole relieved pressure in the middle, it increased pressure elsewhere. A proper bike set up is vital though. The right saddle set up incorrectly is a waste of money.

nellie Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 Mtb - specialised Jett comp gelRoad - specialised Oura Pro Bought the Jett (said to be an all-round Road, mtb, tri saddle) for a steal when I decided my mtb needed a saddle upgrade...never had a day's problems.. Loved it so much that when I had to upgrade my road saddle I went to look for the same one, but there was no stock / wasn't being made anymore, can't remember which.. So took the Oura which is more of a road racing saddle and love that saddle even more... While i am mostly indifferent when it comes to most other specialized products am definitely a Specialized fan when it boils down to their saddles. Well priced, beautiful and can ride all day..
