I have never gone down Chappies in the wet. Do we slow down a lot?

From the top down I'll just stay off paint lines and go full tilt almost all the way down.

The only part that is slippery is the last few hundred metres from the Flora Bay resort buildings to the bottom at Hout Bay Hotel. This is also where the road narrows significantly so you'll have the bunch getting squeezed. Be especially careful in the last right hand corner that has the 3 manhole covers in the middle of the road. Those are slippery even in the dry.

Bike handed in for transport. Looking for profile and some real data for around 3h. I have just realised my data was erased/lost from the Garmin site when they migrated to the new site. Anyone?

I'm sure there is details on the race website. I downloaded and printed a sub 3 time chart and a route profile a few weeks ago and have it next to my pc screen at work. I'm pretty sure I got it off their site. Otherwise there is usually something on that sticker page we get with our race number.

That time chart isn't very accurate. Assumes constant speed throughout the race

Yes. Useless.

Talus - stick with the group until at least Suikerbossie and you will be fine. Lose your group and your sub 3 is in trouble. That's the only thing you worry about.

Your time splits will depend on the conditions of the day and what the group did, and will likely be very different from that official little table.

Whatever the weather says now, freaking take it with a pinch of salt.

I would say start looking at forecasts when the expo opens.

zigactly. Looking mint conditions now, but that is no guarantee

The south easter is pretty fierce this morning (as it was yesterday too) - hopefully it blows out before the weekend.

Coming down Chappies yesterday had a few interesting moments.

Yeah, I was training with 50 mms and weigh about 68 kgs.

Was there yesterday too and included a Kommetjie loop.

The Cape Doc was rof.

It was intense on the descents.

Interestingly, the Llandudno side wasn't too bad as the speeds down there is much higher than descending Chappies.
