Under the Expo Admission Fees tab:

You will be able to collect race packs for other riders provided that you bring at least one valid RaceTec/Winning Time chip.  However, please ensure that the person on whose behalf you are collecting has a valid RaceTec chip as he/she will not be able to access the start area without one.

So that says nothing about that, so can he just pitch up with my race number and say he is here for my pack?

Have you ever tried to close a 3km gap? :whistling:

Racing in the $ is very unpredictable. It all depends on who attacks and when and whether it’s considered a dangerous move due to rider make-up.

We could catch them in the first 10km if they stuff around and play games, or they could just launch attacks off the front for the first hour till one sticks, in which case they will be doing +50kph.

I will be at the front of 1A and holding back the group

we don't want the entire 1A to catch up with $

I honesty believe there can be guys from 1A catching $ with a 4 min time gap - but as a Vet I would not even try it , but the strong elite riders ... :whistling:

it's that time of the year....search the house to find my damn racetec chip (i have three in my name and they all hide!). maybe i can borrow a scanner from them and go poke it around the garage for a bit.

I hope so, I have given my chip to my uncle to collect my number for me. We will find out on Friday when he goes.

I agree it would be carnage, the race comms will not allow it anyway (not the first time this has happened). I would rate our chances at less than 5% but that doesn’t stop us from making 1A look like this. :whistling:

I'm jealous. By the time us back enders hit the road it looks more like a herd of drunk wildebeest.

4 mins is a huge gap to close. I don't think any rider in 1A could close that alone, but if the bunch worked together it could be done for sure (imagine 100 guys taking short turns on the front), but we know that doesn't ever happen. You will always get 10 guys taking turns at the front and the other hundred guys sitting on the back and waiting (k@kking themselves) for Smits.

At the PPA races, to me it seems that its usually the teams that dictate the pace with the attacks and chasing etc. with the lone rangers never really doing much besides hanging on in the bunch. As far as I can see the usual teams are all in $ now, so I assume that leaves mostly lone rangers in A1 and like you said, I don't expect many will want to stick their neck out and go for it

That looks like a line of pain, I don't think you want to be in it.

Why is everyone so scared of smits? I am akking myself for suikerbos! To hold it up there. with a non compact!!

For the front groups, if you get dropped on smits then it doesn't really matter what you do on chappies or suikerbos, your goal of finishing with the group is over.

I want to put money on 1A not catching $, but I'm not really a betting man!

Not sure about the weather between 2013 and 2014, but only 22 seconds difference in winning time for $ so I'm assuming similar weather. Some split times from 2013 ($) and 2014 (VA):

2013: 4km in 7:41

2014: 4km in 9:27

2013: 11,8km (top op Edinburg) in 20:59

2014: 11,8km (top op Edinburg) in 23:29

But give it horns... you never know :P
