Captain Fastbastard Mayhem Posted March 8, 2016 Share Dunedin is one of the reasons a lot of Safas think NZ has terrible weather. It is cold in winter, man! And it gets a lot of overcast conditions. And it is full of crazy students doing crazy student stuff.All that said, it is in NZ and NZ is a fantastic country. When we came over, we would have gone anywhere, even to Invercargill or Greymouth or Westport. patches Posted March 8, 2016 Share Another little helpful bit of info I stumbled upon... So in NZ levies are added to petrol, but not to diesel. So diesel is significantly cheaper. BUT, diesel vehicles require a RUC (road user charge) disc to make their contribution. This disc is based on distance travelled. For example, if I do 15 000km/year I will need to buy 15 000km worth of RUC. The RUC rate is also based on vehicle weight, but the lowest bracket covers up to 3500kg. So... the NZ government has been kind enough to publish an excel spreadsheet to help one compare 2 vehicles and see which one is cheaper to run. Look for the link to the spreadsheet here http://www.transport.govt.nz/land/roadusercharges/ruccalculator/ Edited March 8, 2016 by patches Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
