I am excited just reading everyones post, and i am not even riding it!

FWIW if it were my money i would go with a dynamo type light. One less thing to worry about!

I saw the Sheriff's dynamo light the other day, really awesome, but calling it 'not cheap' is a massive understatement. :P

The extreme light is worth it, don't go for the cheap alternative in the classifieds u will regret it as I did! Running an extreme now no problems.

I use extremelights core. Very nice. R1200. 40hours on dim, but make sure to have battery powered (penlights) backup of some sort (Extremelights xph3a). Dynamo hubs are too fiddly for my liking ... keep it simple! Extreme lights service is excellent!!!

Oh well - it will be what it will be. Lets see if I can arrange "something" on loan.

Would like to get one or two night rides in before the trip. Remind myself of what it is like to ride in the dark on your own.

Go, go go, Slowbee

Thanks Dale

BUT, something a bit more umm educational. I am planing on using a GPS 705. Battery life of about 20 hrs ( I might need a back up...)

So when you get the GPX course, do you upload the entire thing and then just follow the course ? If you switch it off then does it automatically pick up from where you left off ?

AND....I think these units can only for 24 hrs and then the clock resets to zero. Will this then just start a new lap when it happens?

If it rains this time of year, its Laingsburg type rain and then mud guards wont be useful. You will need a boat! So, no. I think the Munga will be dry and thus mud guards are wasted.

So. The riding has been going ok. The only problem is the saddle. I bought a new one, just before we went on holiday. Lets just say the two of us are not on happy terms with one another. As a result I put the old one back on and had Renay (Ergofit, at Trail and Tar in Tokai) make sure it fits.

On the seat post the clamp would not drop down more to drop the nose of the saddle it level (it is an old design saddle, so not the seat post fault but saddle design). I landed up buying a new carbon seat post. I did not want carbon, not sure why, but I just dont trust the stuff. But, Myles Mayhew convinced me to get one and so I did. Now I am riding on the old saddle again - so lets see how it goes. Of all the things Munga, the saddle fit is the most worrying and needs sorting ASAP.

Old seat is the way,,I was thinking tri bars but I'm going with bar ends only, report from riders are you need to change your hand positions regularly.

After the 360 my hands were numb for 2 weeks so I need to work on that

Had saddle issues preparing for the Epic one year and so ditch the Fizik and went the Specialized saddle way, the Phenom. Problem solved. Try them, had NO issues what so ever.

For something as long as the munga you need a comfy seat more than a lightweight seat. I would be inclined to strap a lazyboy to the seatpost for something like that.

Maybe something from Brooks?
