Belgarath Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 Hi guys So, I was dismantling my bike to pack it and take it along to the seaside, and I realised my SBC seatpost is a little bent. I can think of quite a number of crashes that might have done it, but more likely it is my fat ass that caused it, because the seatpost is set to the maximum height it can go. So, do I:1. Leave it (my wife will approve)2. Replace it with a 450mm one3. Replace it with something made from another material (no idea what the SBC one is made of, also no idea what options there are??).

Not the kind of thing you would want to disclose to the wife. If it is any consolation I bought the layback a while ago. It really is superior quality. I see you talk about 450mm seat post. You are going to have a hard time finding that in steel locally. Thomson is 410 mm. If you want 450 mm you will have to go carbon.

Even Easton will be cheaper. If you want to buy once, Thomson is the way. Had a 110kg mate riding a 27.2 at full extension for 2 years, not even a niggle. Try that with any other brand. He did, and went through at least 4 before the Thomson.

BenReaper Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 I have a Rapid Rizer handle bar,if the Contol Stick seatpost is of similar quality you will have no problems.Alternatively there are other cheap options,I have owned both Giant and Ryder seatpost that performed flawlesly and cost less than R300.On my XTC I currently have a PRO components KORYAK seatpost that is stil doing well.I am also roundabout 90kg.
