How's this for irony: Sifiso' date=' a black sportsman from a low income family, has to qualify for the Olympic Games through the 'front door' ie on merit in accordance with his and SA's world rankings. The rhythmic gymnast, Odette Richard and the archer fellow, both white from high income families, were able to qualify for the Games through the 'back door', having to win the Continental Champs titles in their respective sports, ie, not on merit!

PLEASE SPARE ME THIS POLITCAL BULLSH*TAngry

Easy tiger - just because you don't understand what irony means doesn't give you reason to attack Sean.

The official policy regarding track cycling is:

SASCOC will consider selection of athletes who qualify through World Championships or World Cups where the athletes will be selected on merit.

They'd never send a donkey to this thoroughbred race.

Shame Donkey... all your hopes of qualifying have gone out of the window LOL

Check the current 'torch protests' - HUGE politics...

more UCI points just means you've been lapped more times in Europe...no offence to anyone......Yolande was in Houffalize this passed weekend.....so thats good' date=' but was down 1 lap in the end.......

Valid point in general but does not really apply to the olympics because the number of riders at the olympics is less.

The UCI point scoring events that the YOLANDA and the other SAFFAS have been racing at over the last few years usually have much more riders and unless you get a seeded start its quite easy to get lapped.

BTW Yolanda does not always get lapped either Wink

Great to see David made it....

Only one question' date=' Why John Lee? He has done jacjk sh*t this year. There are far better choices than him.

1000 bucks only David finishes the Road race.

Maybe you should follow whats going on at the races before saying he did jack sh*t!!! He has been in winning brake aways at a tour stage or 2 and had bad luck from punchers close to the end.

So Basicaly what you are saying is that he has done Jack sh*t...

Could have, Should have, Might have..... This is Olympics they going to not the Cape Argus or 94.7.

They need to send Backup for DG, not Barloworld Cannon Fodder !!!!!!!

David is the no 1 for that race. Agree with Chunky. Chunky, who do you think should go help him?

Not that it can be changed, but I wouldnt be suprised if we see a withdrawal or 2. Wonder if Nolan is reserve?

Hope John Lee's season gets better, doesnt look he's recovered after the crash in October.

Darren Lill ! and David could make a great combo if they put their diffrences aside!

There is no problem between David and Darren, they good mates.

Darren would be a good choice and he is riding well at the moment.

Well Chunky I just couldn't help but notice that whenever DG is discussed in any way  you are scoring major brownie points! <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I hope he is making it worth your while for all this PR!Wink

I think Chunky is more in touch with these guys than the rest of us, so don't dismiss his comment quite so easily.

Second, did someone punch John lee and stop him winning something?

 I agree with Chunky.

Seems the selectors are on a different page from everyone else!

John Lee broke his femur close to the hip and there is no way that can be properly healed and the lost racing time made up and I think TBL are acknowledging this with the races he's doing recently!

And RH is totally unsuited for the multiple lap type race that's scheduled. I question whether the selectors have really done their homework properly? A review of the last few world champs is all that is needed to see who can perform in this type of race!

And what of the current and forthcoming SA Champs - surely they must be relevent for both track and road?
