Do I have to qualify for the The Value Logistics Fast One?No, you do not have to qualify to take part, but we do suggest that you participate inother races throughout the year. This will ensure that you are fit for The ValueLogistics Fast One. Participation in other events could also improve your seedingPosition. I am a resident outside of South Africa. Can I enter and how do I go aboutentering?Yes, you can enter! You can enter at: www.cycleevents.co.za How old do you have to be, to enter the race?Twelve years old. For safety reasons, no any person younger than 12 years mayenter the 96km.If a younger person wants to ride, he/she can enter the 50 km fun ride, provided thatwritten consent is given by a parent or Guardian. What kind of bike may I ride?Any traditional bicycle or tandem bicycle that is not motorized. Recumbent bicyclesare also allowed in certain categories. Do I need a license to enter the race?Yes. All participants ( both for the 96 and 50 Km races ) have to be holders of a CSACycling License or an International License recognized by the UCI. These licensesmay consist of one of the following:* Full Racing License* Membership License* Day License – for riders not holding one of the above. A day license is onlyvalid to start in the seeded race groups and not with the age category Riders.Cyclists competing in Elite categories require a CSA licence How long do I have to finish the The Value Logistics Fast One?You have 5 hours to complete the event, within your group’s start time. There areenforced cut-off points at each water point. Please check the website or the RaceBrochure for the cut off times or contact the Race Office I’ve entered. Now what?If your entry is valid, you will receive your race number via email and/or SMS by midJanuary 2016, after the seeding run. Race Number Collection ( registration ) willhappen at Cycle Lab in Fourways on the 28 and 29th January 2016, between 09H00and 17H00 and at the Bedworth Park Pick n Pay, Vereeniging, on 30th January 2016between 09H00 and 13H00. Can I collect my number on the day of the race?a. Elite and Licensed riders: NOYour race numbers can only be collected during the registration days, as youwill need to present your license to the CSA officialsb. All other open categories: YesFor all open categories, race numbers may be picked up at the race venue (Midvaal Raceway in Meyerton ) on the day of the race, from 05H00.This service is primarily destined to assist those who could not pick up theirnumbers during the registration days, due to extraordinary circumstances (participants who stay far from the registration points, arrived too late to collect,forgot to collect, etc ).Nevertheless, cyclists are advised to be there early to avoid delaying theirstart.The organisers will not be responsible whatsoever for any cyclist starting latedue to delay in picking up his/her number. Can another person collect my race number at registration?Yes provided that the person collecting your number has your written consent forthat effect. How will I be timed?The event is timed by RaceTec timing.You do not need to have a timing chip to participate. However, if you do not have atiming chip you will not get a timing result.Please ensure that, in order to avoid false or no reading, your chip is installed as persupplier’s recommendation.Since timing is provided by a third party service provider, the Organisers are notinvolved in any aspect of the timing process.Should you have any question or query on any aspect of the timing process or timingresults, please contact RaceTec directly. What if I decide, during the race, that I cannot continue further?There are sweep vehicles on the route. Move off of the road and wait for the sweepvehicle, or flag down an official vehicle to call for the sweep vehicles. At all Waterpoints there are dedicated sweep pick up areas as well. The sweep vehicles will dropyou and your bike at the finish venue. I would like to ride together with family members and friends. How do I dothis?Each person will have to enter individually. Everyone is seeded according to theirown individual index.Should a person starting in an earlier group wish to ride with family or friends, he orshe can choose to start in the later group with his/her friends or family.Any rider is permitted to start in a later group. However, If a cyclist starts in an earliergroup, he or she will not receive timing.Go to Event Page

Cadre Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 2nd Circumnavigation. Last year 3.06 mostly alone. Downhill start is very fast, easy middle sector in a bunch and again fast on a tailwind home from around the 70km mark. Currently on meds for a despicable summer cold, courtesy of a day fishing in the blistering sun off Protea banks. (dehydration). Hope to saddle up by Friday.
