I'm going to be giving this one a miss in future, until this problem is sorted out.

Can be as easy as having a few marshalls with gopro cameras, anyone found in the shot over the white line, gets banned - end of story

I rode in AL and found this was the norm all race long, guys flying up the on-coming traffic and pushing in. I heard two guys behind me getting into quite a heated argument, sounded like one guy had thrown a punch and they were just about ready to have a go off their bikes. I also had a guy constantly coming round the white line and pushing in until he bumped into my bars and i lost it with him... never saw him again after that.

As for the race not sure who the Activize team was that rode in AL but they did provide some good entertainment with their tactics, hand signals and shouting orders of when and who should attack etc etc.

Hi Guys

Does anyone know where I can get my official time for the Fast One yesterday?

www.racetec.co.za  The site is down now for some reason.

Race was a good one, managed to get 3:35 (my fastest time for this distance) which i'm very happy about and will start working towards getting times that you guys are getting. Bro in law was struggling for the first 20 km and then we looked at he's bike at WP1 and noticed his front brake was touching the tire the whole time. after that the pace picked up quite nicely.

Thought the race was very well organized along with the marshals. will definitely be doing this race again.

My Bro in law and I were at the front of group of at least 15 - 20 riders for almost 40 km's with only one person volunteering to help out when we asked with the rest slowly disappearing to follow some other innocent peasant that was going at a decent pace.

Really enjoyed the race though.

I hear you but its not like people wont do this at any other road race? Unless race organisers stop it, Im guessing we will see it at Ride For Sight too.

The PPA were a pain in the ass in Cape Town but they would tell every batch as it came to the front the rules about not riding over the white line. I dont think I've heard this being said at any races in JHB unless they just say it once to the front guys?

At Race 4 Victory end of last year they DQ'd the entire VA main bunch because half of us where over the line. They had warned us a few times but it was gutter racing and if we get dropped race is over anyway so we took the chance. But at the end of the day only the breakaway and a few guys that had been dropped up the climb early on got times. Now we think twice about it. Yesterday it only happened a few times due to the group moving away from holes or when we passed tandems/juniors or guys just moving up the field quickly.

All they need to do is DQ the bunch and then the guys will think twice at the next few races. If they consistent for ALL groups ALL the time then everyone will always stick to the rules.

If you are going to be the hub grammar Nazi then you should correct all spelling issues not just the big guys ;)

I'll be here all day. Only noticed that because of the reply. (and the bad mood that I was in)

The racing in VA was hard at times and relaxed at others. A few close shaves towards the back of the group but nothing serious at all. Break of 7? Got away and stayed away. Finished about a minute ahead of us. At one stage they had 2 min. Kudos to the commasaire in the qashqai for understanding when the guys crossed the line a few times(swerving for potholes and generally just sorting ourselves out). The right lane riding was minimal but probably because of virtually zero wind. Main bunch finished in 2h14m

Was hard but def a tad easier than elites, there is not so much constant attacking

Nice meeting "long wheel base" and "rastaman" at the race

Nice meeting you too

We tried to catch the breakaway, at one point worked so hard I almost dropped but recovered quickly and went at it again. enjoyed my first VA race, but our teamwork needs some work. But we will get there

Dude.....you are quite "busy" in the bunch.

You can gain a lot by not being up and down the bunch so much.

Also you need to concentrate on keeping your upper body more still.  Will save on energy also.

Just a few thoughts while I watched at the back. ;)

Makes me think back to when my son was racing Juniors/U23 he learnt a lot from you, Hannes and the rest of the tCS guys then!

Was quite difficult to just sit when ur team mates are all over.

But I will have a look, if I can save more energy its always a good thing
