After 2014 new route success we'll be refining and adding to the current incredible areas, leading to brand new incredible routes.

Clarens is a beautiful part of the world and is also nice and central for many up-country riders. Being just 3hrs away from Johannesburg, Bloemfontein and Pietermaritzburg no reason to miss this beautiful event, so make sure you are there for this inaugural event. Situated in the Eastern Free State, Clarens is such a scenic and wonderful place that it is a big source of inspiration for many artists. For the last three years the event caused quite a stir, as it was said that the route is on world standards, completely blew everyone away!

The route is probably the most visually appealing and varied but challenging one that we have ever put together. It follows sand road, jeep track, huge rock-trails and single track over some of the most incredible rock landscapes in this country. This is all virgin land for mountain bikers as most of it is private land, so don't miss this opportunity. Home to various types of wildlife so you are guaranteed to see some around.

Clarens is a circular loop race; it will start in the Clarens Town Square, Clarens, Free State and finish at the same venue. This spectacular route crosses the Maluti Mountains on the edge of the Lesthoto border, which is the highest mountain range in South Africa. The race has been in existence for 5 years and has grown tremendously the riding is absolutely unique and spectacular. Bring the family and make a weekend of this event in the picturesque town of Clarens, featuring art galleries, gift shops and some of the best food in the country!

Anyone did the camping this during last years race in Clarens? I am struggling to get affordable accommodation for 6 people so I am looking at the camping thing but I see the avg minimum for April is only 6deg. That's a bit chilly....

Just to brag and mention.

This girl of mine had more guts than brains and did the marathon, on her 26er alu hardtail. I wont menton all her picnic stops and her bad tan she got, but she finished in 5 and a half hours!

Well done Nellie!

Not much feedback about how this event went down? I unfortunately had to miss it but always like to hear what everyone makes of these events, especially the ones I haven't yet gotten round to doing myself.

Fantastic weekend away. Did the Ultra on Sat and the Half on Sunday with the missus. Both days we stayed on the town side of the main road, didn't cross over the tar road and I found the routes much better than last year. There was some district road and a section of grass but it wasn't bad. The single track at the end was fantastic as always. The Half used much of the same route as the Marathon including 2 climbs and the single track at the end.

Well worth the drive and the brewery did brisk business as usual.
