I am getting the new bike ( mtb ) hopefully today , was hopping to hear tips on how do you protect a new bike so that the bike looks new for as long as possible?

I normally take some gorilla tape and stick it all along the bottom tube, below bb , on chain stays and where there could be cable shaving.

Get some of that clear stuff they use on cars. There is also a bike specific product too, but if I remember it was pretty expensive.

I tend to go and hammer the hell out of it on the first ride, see what she can do, see what she can't, get some scars on her, sob and cry for a bit because it looks wounded then realise it's a bike and should be ridden so don't really mind anymore.  Problem solved. :)

Ride out of parking lot, dismount, throw into bushes, retrieve, throw into bushes again, ride.

I did that a lot at varsity. Oh sorry that was too myself. Bush diving was so much fun...

VPS in Strijdompark (Randburg)- They use 3M clear vinyl covering. Expensive but worth the effort.

The only stuff worth using if you really want to protect the bike
