I'm surpized that this thread is so quiet 2 days before the event...

Is everybody (including their steeds) ready???

Haven't done it before so not sure about me, just hope it isn't km's of fresh grass hummock and rock and there is some decent smooth climbing.

Think I need to spend some time primping the steed though, new sealant at the minimum

Hmm might be in for a rude awakening

Monster is known for climbing but not the smooth variety

2 weeks to go and the nerves are slowly starting to surface... have I done enough training... I don't think so.

On a different note. What kind of solid snacks do you guys take with for the marathon? I seldom take solid snacks with on a ride. However, for this one I feel it is definitely necessary.

Does anyone have any input about the racefood fastbars?

Racefood fastbars (both nougat flavours) and FARbars (like a type of fruit/xmas cake) are the bomb.

Almost like real food, they won't make you vomit or feel nauseous.

They are all i eat on long or really tough rides.

I think the first 500m through the resort/caravan Park is smooth...that's about it...

I'm really not looking forward to Saturday.

I've only been able to put in about 20 hours of riding in the last 3 months due to illness. :-(

Luckily i'm only entered for the 35 km.

I did consider skipping it, but will give it a bash regardless.

The climb may be more technical according to them, but with a 10km shorter route and about 200m less climbing than last year I'm sure this one should be a little easier than last year...? I hope!!!

As long as "technical" doesn't mean freshly bush mown/strimmed grass hummocks, those things destroy my will to live

Agreed!! That is probably one of the most annoying things on any route... that and lots and lots of sand...

Sick..........I'm out. Enjoy guys and gals.

Will be following hubbers and hardmen closely. (the ones that actually ride, not the ones talking about it)
