What's tougher TDF or cape epic?

I was lucky enough to do epic last year.

I believe both events are the ultimate in their disciplines, I would love the chance to do the TDF. Each event will have their own challenges and advantages, like the massive climbs in TDF and the horribly technical descents at epic where even suaser has to walk, the momentum of the peloton vs the deep sand where riding is almost impossible etc etc. my opinion is purely based on the time factor, I love nothing more then to ride my bike but to race at full tilt for 20 odd days is going to be epic lol :)

So in my opinion the TDF is tougher, if it was 8 days the Epic would take the cake. Spanner in the works would come in if you had a 20 odd day Epic, then I would say the Epic with no contest.

There are harder and more grueling mtb races than Epic.

For road races TdF is the pinnacle for the Pro's.

Heres an idea, I'm surprised no one suggested it yet

Change the CE to a 3 week event

Personally I think the Giro is the toughest ????????

I think you are right, when it comes to the route.

I do however think the general pace at TdF is harder simply because the guys send more top riders there.

No matter which sport.... There is always a harder event somewhere.

The epic used to say it was a pro level (tough) challenge open to anyone

Well soon the CE will be the worlds toughest race for the average mountain biker, just because of the steep entry fee

This opens the thought, why doesn't someone create an Amateur TdF, ( a proper one, not a half assed 10 day thing) allowing us knobhead wannabes to go give it a bash like those amateurs at the Epic....

It's seems the first 80kms in any tdf stage apart from TT and Mountains are spent drafting, chatting etc. where the epic is usually full gas from the start everyday. Having said all that if joe soap participated in each with a good base fitness in each I would say he's got less chance of completing the tdf. (My opinion)

Would cost a bucket loAd of cash but sure if there's a demand it might happen.

Just no dope testing for the riders though[emoji10][emoji10]

The first 80kms of an epic stage are the stage....

The first 80km of a TDF stage is maybe half way, at double the speed.
