Again another hilarious incident after we got hold of it . Anyway the manager on our farm got instruction to shoot any dog that enters the property . I don;t care if it's got a pink ribbon and a fluffy tail . We discussed this with SPCA , Fona and FLora and Oom Piet years ago and it was agreed that my farm is not a place for dogs and I should do whatever is needed .

But then again I also don't allow visitors .

Not to give too much away... but it's easier to spot the acceleration on the trip out

The trip back was a lot quicker as Dips diesel kicked in along with some bleeding from the eyeballs

They could have done it in a better manner, out of the eye of children.  If it was really required to shoot them, I am sure they could have used a small caliber rifle with a silencer from a longer distance, or maybe waited for someone to bring trapping cages.

Yes, because owning small caliber rifles with silencers are readily available, and you probably do not need a license to own such a firearm, especially in South Africa...

For instance, try buying a .22 long rifle with a silencer and scope in this day and age.

How on earth do you call a dog away from the eyes of the little children if they are feral?

If a dog attacks the animals on our farm, it too, will be shot without hesitation.

I just read their facebook site comments.

I think I have just used up my lifetime supply of facepalms.

Goeie donner, had to go and look. What an absolute nightmare.

"Dogs did not respond to calls or basic instruction" ???

How many official languages did they try that in ?  Maybe the dogs would have been fine with Ndebele and this was a needless and tragic loss of life.

SIT!!....Good doggie

I've occasional thought about this, and made a mental note to try it out....but whenever i come across a scary dog my survive and flee instinct kicks in and I forget to ask it to sit (or "platz" which i believe to be the German version)

Farmers have to shoot many, many more vermin on a daily basis.  They can't phone the SPCA or Vets for every feral dog, baboon, jackal, caracal, meerkat and warthog that is causing problems on their farms.  If they are forced to do that, our food prices will skyrocket.

agree Moridin, hence my question about the location of VG first in trying to figure out if shooting the dog with guests around after 3 days of problems was the best way to get the job done.

plenty farmers just shoot vermin, its easier and more simple. but is VG a farm farm, or an farm on the urban edge. doesnt really matter though - the animal had to be put down.

Done by many SA's daily.

The scope and silencer make no difference to the licensing procedure or your chances of being approved. Far too many people think getting a firearm license is a difficult thing to do, it really isn't.

I'm scared of going overseas. Those dogs don't know "VOERTSEK!"
