Who in Joburg should I use for trueing a (vintage) set of wheels?
They’re more or less true, but the tension is all over the place with a couple of very loose spokes.
32 spoke Sapim xray and mavic reflex tubular hubs.

Or @David Marshall in Kyalami

A pretty "unique" set of wheels I've just had the pleasure of putting together...

PINK hubs and 29" 359 Vibrocore rims from Spank. Double butted spokes and black brass nipples.

Yes, I know the freehub is missing - this is because I'll install the right one needed by the buyer to suit his or her cassette 👍

You know - for when your existing wheels don't match your bike, your riding style or your personality :)

These are available for purchase on my website if anyone's interested.

I have an old set of Enve rim brake wheels on my old road bike. I also have an used set of DT240 disc hubs from a gravel bike lying around.

Will it be possible to convert the rim brake wheels to disc wheels with these disc hubs? Maybe require new spokes? Anything else I'm not thinking of?

Basically what I want to do is sell my old road bike with its original aluminium wheels, and use my gravel bike for gravel and road, and just switch between wheelsets.

As long as the hole count of the hubs matches the hole count of the rims, I don't see any reason why this can't work.

Thanks Splat much appreciated.

I've worked on many of these older wheels over the years.

Constantly fixing "expert wheelbuilders" work and thats often the biggest challenge.

It's only a few years in to wheel ownership the true test of. good build shows.

Provided the nipples move freely, I would definitely be able to help.

Wheel tech has changed immensely over the years, one of my latest builds.

Ja, I check in here every now and again, but rarely comment, suppose it's like my cycling these days, sporadic at best...

Hope you are well?  I must come and see your shop sometime!
