Over the 500 mark now - moving toward the 1000s hopefully. The more voices, the more (hopefully) chance there is of a positive reaction - OP: hat off to you for driving this!

What are the fact in terms of the change of management of the Reserve?

Does this correlate to the deterioration of the security there?

Are Security Contractors still being employed? Last time I was there (about a year ago) a couple of them where having a nap under a tree

Unfortunately the current management team are totally ineffective and although they have a security contractor in place they are not managing them.

880 signatures in place and I have yet to make contact with the birders and conservationists so I believe that we will exceed 1000 before the end of this week. Then I'm off to see the Mayor. Hmmm might have clean my bike for the occasion!

As of 7:48 today we were sitting on 1039 signatories! People got active on social media overnight. Think the momentum might even swing this to the tens of thousands

Also signed and shared yesterday, posted to one or two Facebook pages of twee wheel riders in Centurion as well. Its amazing to see the support.

@River Rat, you probably know the management at Groenies, but I can assist with email addresses, telephone numbers and even hopefully point you in the right direction to meet up with the Mayor. I happened to know that the next week or two is hectic.....Gooi me a PM if I can be of any assistance

Okay ... so is that the crux of the problem?  Is there data on the attacks there? that should be compiled / graphed, and perhaps a supporting document prepared with all the facts of the matter. But one would have to try work with the existing management there, even if it is ineffective, that we cant change in the short term.

You/We should also look at a media campaign: social media is fine to a point, but when you get the top knobs on the air on the likes of 702 being made to answer, things can take a different turn (like at Suikerbosrand a few years ago when they tried to shut out cyclists)

I can try assist where possible, I have some experience in public space / interest campaigns and a few media connections

Damn I am really missing that place, used to drive through about once a month, haven't been for a year.

Should we, at the same time, look  at others strategy of fighting back? Groups of us at the weekend to patrol and work with the security contractors? Assist with fixing fences?
