I have ridden a Cycleops Fluid for the last 2 years. Not a moments hassle.

And, the after sales service from Bicycle Power (the distributors) is unbelievably good.

It really depends what you're looking for. If its only to use in virtual races you can get away with a CycleOps Fluid 2 at only R5,5k.

If you want a smart trainer (built in power meter, erg mode, etc) then you are looking at 3-4 times the price.

If you already have a power meter then a normal Fluid2 type trainer might be perfect for you as you already have a way to measure power (assuming you care about that).

If virtual racing is your one and only goal then a Fluid 2 will let you ride the CycleOps virtual racing world for relatively little money.

look here for some good reviews of trainers

The below is from Dave. Cycleops is imho better option. If the wheel issue is a thing, just by a cheap second wheel, problem solved

Cycleops Power sync special . ANT +  or Bluetooth ?

Noob question but just asking . Bike Radar rates it high but took points as their model had bluetooth. Apparently ANT + is the one to have.

Model reviewed on The Hub had ANT+. As far as actual trainer is concerned both reviews good.

Edit: Just looked on the website seems there are two models , you can choose your preffered comms.

Correct, you would need to choose between ANT+ or Bluetooth on the CycleOps models.

Wahoo offers both in all products simultaneously.

Correct, but not always a bad thing as we can offer "plugins" like USB sticks to read ANT+ and most of the new tablets and phones have BLE already.

Also CycleOps and PowerTap are bringing out more product with the dual frequency built in, all of our PowerTap hubs now come standard with the dual band power caps, the new PowerCal HR strap is now dual band as well as the speed/cadence sensors.

The new product being released soon will have dual band as well and it is only a matter of time before they are able to manufacture the current systems with the dual band capabilities.
