I've edited my post several times since your reply. Just to check, the 10% is to increase the taxable value, which 14% is taken off then? It's not 14% and 10%?

The 10% is from the Customs value.

So if you Goods are R1000 you take 10% of that amount and add it example R1000 +10%

R1000 + 100

= R1100 * 14%

=R  154 EXTRA you have to pay

Remember some Goods also attract Schedule 1 P2A and 2B. Thats all extra duties ( Ad Volerum) thats all extra duties on top the 10% +14%

But seriously though, I can't thank you enough for your insight Lexx, it was spot on. I calculated R447 in VAT, came out as R432 because the Rand strengthened a bit since I ordered. Really appreciate the help!

The duties will be 15% on all complete bicycles.

(LBS warned that it would take 4-6 weeks to get purple as it would be a special order. They were also significantly more expensive.)
