Welvanpas - how is it these days?

I have ridden there a few times but not for a year at least. Interested to know if the old favourites on the black route are still there and if any new stuff has been added recently...

Rode the black route a few weeks back. The main trails were in good nic. But the jeeptrack was pomped...full or branches and pine cones. So hoping that'll be sorted before the enduro.

Otherwise it was still awesome :D

Welvanpas is still as awesome as ever. Pinecones will always make for some interesting corners, but that is a small price to pay for riding in the forest. If you haven't been there in a year there might be some pleasant surprises waiting on you (e.g. Extended and improved Full Monty). Enjoy!

Is complaining about the condition of jeep track a thing? The ratio of jeep track to single track is also negligently small, although it might feel longer due the fact that they're mostly on climbs.

We had some crazy wind a few weeks ago, so a few branches are to be expected. However, there are a few fallen trees, and I've noticed it usually takes them quite a while to clear the trails again.

Other than that, I believe it's still the best ride, black and white route. Black just pips it for the longer descents, especially if you climbed all the way to full monty.

anyone know if its possible to session, the likes of cool runnings or cool runnings 2 without having to go back through the start...

Ag not complaining as such, but it was a pain in the arse breaking your momentum on the climbs. definitely from the wind I reckon.

Yeah definitely a good day out riding that trail. Need to go back again ASAP just because :D

As for sessioning... No clue

Sounds like it can only be better than ever although I have always wondered why they don't build a few Jonkers style features along the way to add to the fun factor...

No sessioning man - you need to race that enduro blind :-)

One of the few rake and ride trails in the Cape so I hope they stay away from features.

That is true and it has a special feel because of that. I was disappointed when they did an Epic Fail make over at the top of Cool Runnings with that Boomslang like bridge thing - the old fade away corner was so much more fun...

Rolled the black trail in April, I think

It's in good shape.

Signage were a bit tricky then

Got lost a few times

Rode the Black Route on Friday of last week and the White Route a week earlier. The White Route ride was after a storm so there were a few branches etc on the trails, but still a good ride. The Black Route was amazing, especially the three Full Monty sections and then Cool Runnings and Cool Runnings Too. The trails were win good condition although winter has made some of the rocky sections near the top a bit challenging. Great riding though and heartily recommended
