Thanks for posting the pics Splat!

Still can't believe it rained on the morning, the track is firming up really nicely..

On Sunday last we found several riders, a family in Sunday best (well some of them) out for a ride at Tokai. They were hardly dressed for hiking let alone riding and not one of them had a helmet on. At this stage we don't know whether they came in via the boom at the picnic area but that seems logical.

That the gate officials didn't stop them is a poor show from TMNP. We will obviously address the issue with them but also wish to remind everyone who rides there and indeed anywhere on TMNP that helmets are obligatory.

If you do encounter anyone on the mountain without a helmet (downhillers pushing their bikes up hill are excluded) please play honorary ranger and advise them to leave the mountain carefully and not to come back again unless they have proper head wear on.

Thx

I remove mine as soon as I start overheating!!!. But thats only on the climbs. As soon as I am pointing down, I make sure it is secured on my head!!!

Funny enough in the years of riding at tokai I was asked once about my helmet some years ago, and then last week, an old friend came past and asked me to put it on.

I have a question that may or may not have been answered...

When Tokai eventually becomes open 7 days a week due to the bluegums being removed and tree falling safety a thing of the past, will the time slots still apply?

Ie can we access before work in Summer Mon-Fri from say 5 am like we used to? Obviously we will have our valid level 3 activity cards etc.. Same applies to after work?

I used to ride there before and after work all the time and it was heavenly, or will the same strict times apply to riders as the picnic area?

Yeah  you mean the usual sunrise to sunset opening times, I miss those hours.

Exactly... I miss my pre and post work spins.

My bike fitness and my skills have deteriorated as much as my motivation to ride in the last 2 years. I will cry tears of such glee if the place ever reopens as it was
