He wouldn't confirm if they are 'un-puncturable', and after all, the Titanic was meant to be unsinkable and we know what happened there... We can't tell exactly what it is but it's some kind of tough plastic cover or rim-strip on a new wider rim which measures 44mm (external) and which we can guess will provide a hookless 34mm internal dimension.

Read that he actually insists on a stem as close to his fork offset as possible. On his DH bike the 40 is a 50mm offset fork, so he specs a 50 to keep them in check.
