Morning people i ride a dual sus and on yesterdays ride if i put load on non drive side pedal downward stroke the drive side "wobbled/slipped". same feeling as if pedal axle bent!!!!

on flat road this did not happen. if i  uncleated right shoe and pushed with only left could not feel it but when cleated in and pushing a hill on downward stroke with left foot then right foot felt as if pedal was loose or crank etc

stopped and checked pedals tight, cranks tight etc etc.

no chain slip or worn parts, pivot bearings ok

at a loss, any ideas to look ro check for will be much appreciated

cheers

Hmm - how old is the bike, what size frame and what frame is it.

Worn bearings and pivots, worn chain and cluster (how old, how many kays).

What axle (thru axle or normal closure?)

I had a Giant NRS 1 in a large frame which flexed so bad that you could rub the back tire against the chain stays. Just a bad design. Never could fix it.

2015 scalpel large

recently changed BB, pivots ok and its not a chain slipping feeling. really is odd feel but only under load...

as said it is as if the pedal axle is bent on drive side when pushing down on LHS pedal

It sounds like there is play on you're crank.

If it is a Shimano crank Double check that the crank bolts and the plastic end cap is tight.

But first you have to loosen the crank bolts to tighten the end caps, and then retorque the crank bolts.

It could be that you're experiencing a bit of pedal bob. I experienced a similar scenario on climbs. Try to put more air in you shock. A smoother pedalling action also helps a bit.

Mine did that aswell, found my alu freehub stripped and my cassette's most used gear was slipping when there was load applied. The gear has eaten through the freehub splines that held it in place

Check that your cleats are tight....I am dead serious might not be loose enough to move with your finger but could move while powering.

Good luck

Wich model Scalpel? Does it have a carbon crank? I've recently seen a bike from a different manufacturer with a carbon crank that gave much the same problem.

This was however on the non driveside crank arm, the arm itself is carbon and is molded to the metal bottom part with the splines that bolts onto the center part that connects it to the drive side.

The carbon had developed play on the metal part and had the same effect as a loose crank arm.
