Reminds me of the 1km to go at TDF..

Just shows how much better at the job Gerald and the gang are. That was the Sprint for the tandem victory and no one was impeded. Yates was injured a d lost time and and and at tdf 1km to go.

Well done Gerald/germiston wheelers/who ever else helped.

That's why are called deflatables, rather than inflatable arches.

From the other thread:

"His preferred method of cheating was dropping off the racing bunch (or simply just getting dropped) and then getting his mates to pick him up in a bakkie to be transported to a convenient place closer to the finish where he could sneak back into the bunch. Other stunts this guy pulled was to take the short route options on races, faking mechanicals for the grace lap on crits, swapping jerseys in crits and so on."

Really? I did see 3 guys at the back of a Twin Cab and I thought it was a bit early for a sweep and they looked a bit chirpy for guys that have abandoned. It could be them. Interesting...

I think the bakkie had an orange light like those construction trucks. I think just above the left door.

We operate a shuttle system from sector to sector. Everyone that can't continue eventually ends up at the R23/R550 from 1 of 4 directions.

They then get picked up and taken to Carnival City. It means the sector controllers are still patrolling their sector and not wasting their time moving cyclists to CC.

We had three riders that had abandoned. The radio said the Elite riders were at a certain point at a certain time. I said impossible, but it turned out to be these guys that were dropped at the shuttle point.

Yes, I did. Not as much as it did, but enough for the groups to splinter - makes for an easier finish for the guys.

We had a guy from Vb with us... 2nd group cl. I think I first saw him just after the junction 4 way stop or thereabouts.

Never thought anything of it untill reading this ...

That's normal. You started after him, so he just got dropped, badly. But when you see someone from a group that starts after your group, and you're not going slow, then there is something fishy. Eg. If the VA group passes a lone VC rider.

I wonder if my son perhaps got anything worthwhile on camera at the finish line that could assist in resolving or addressing this concern. He works for the company Mardo Photos and he was there to do the "photo finish". I wasn't there at the finish, so I am not sure how many cameras were set up, and what angles he recorded. If needed, I can ask him to have a look.

I think with 4 riders on the podium all confirming he wasn't part of the racing, we have enough to make a decision.

The cameras will place him there as will the timing chip.

This will be concluded tomorrow.

Am sure we never passed him ,but he came from behind ? So how does that work?
