Bike Sentimentality

I've been thinking of selling my road bike and keep coming up with excuses for why not to.  So that made me wonder, is there anyone else out there that has a bike/bikes that they own/owned that the sentimental value outweighs the value of the bike?

Most def. I pretty much still have all my bikes going back to the mid 90's. This is the bike I did this on, that is the bike I rode that race with. Got my provincial colours in "x" race using that bike etc.

Yup.

I recently offered the bike I started to race on seriously to my work colleague's son to ride to school and back. Today he came to me and asked if I would like to have the bike back because his son won't be using it. It made my day because I am really sentimental about the bike and felt bad after I gave it away.........but it's coming home!!!

It's a 17 year old Gary Fisher

I feel like this will all of my cycling stuff. Cant let any of my stuff go because of the sentimental value of it. Memories of all the races i did on or with it. To someone else it would just be junk.

I sold my rigid ss Niner SIR9 to Dipslick.

Yes I got great cash for it, but irrespectively I regret it.

I want my bike back Dips!

Whats happened to Dips ... He's been very quiet.

I have a few bikes that I will never sell. Dont get sentimental about all of them, but some you just bond with ...

Never saw myself as the sentimental when it comes to bikes, but Johan Rissik nailed it.

My steel on-one is by far the best bike I have owned. Every time I ride another bike, it feels like I'm cheating on my on-one...the worst was that one time when I rode a full carbon full sus...holy crap, felt guilty for weeks after that.

I also have an awesome steel road bike, don't see myself as a "roadie" but every ride on that bike is flippin awesome.

I have been offered a brand new TCR advanced carbon in exchange for the classic steel bike, but given it's history, it will never happen.

I don't ride my GT Peace much and it's taking up space... along with my Cannondale Caad 7 Dura Ace road bike. I should probably sell both as keeping them for 2 rides a year doesn't make much sense when the cash would wipe out a nice chunk of debt... but yeah, been saying I will sell them for a while now. But no sign of that advert you'll see

I have 2 Road bikes, both related to my Dad who died in 2012.

One is his old steel Somec which I have restored and now use as an indoor training bike and only take out on the road on special occasions.

The other is my carbon Silverback Scalera 3 which I bought with some inheritance money I received from my Dad's estate.

Won't get rid of either of them!

You should probably sell your soul before selling the Peace......that said, mine is gathering dust at an undisclosed location.

Your SIR is in Niner heaven, I bet it sleeps in his bedroom.
