Ja, know that feeling. Our company always has it's Year End party the Saturday evening before the Stellies Cycle Tour.

Usually the organisers of the CTCT host it on a day the wind blows......................... How inconsiderate of them.

If the current weather pattern is anything to go by, we will have wind and heat.

Ditto.

Only real question is, how much?

When last was there a wet, really wet, Cycle Tour? (ok, Argus)

Not in the 15 years I have done it.  Some parts were wet, but never from start to finish.

Hot and Windy, plenty of those.

Done the last the last 26 tours and don't think I can remember any being WET. I remember 1 there was a chance of rain and the expo exhibitors sold rain coats like crazy and it was just a cloudy day. Think I wore arm warmers and clear lenses that day.

Only once I can recall, and it was just slightly wet! Too long ago to put a year to it, years tend to fold into each other after a while

............Hot and Windy,...........

Generally not together.

If the Southeaster blows, then it stays fairly cool, even over midday.(Applies to South Westerly also.) It is bad for early riders, terrible for later ones. Times always down.

But if there is no wind, then it gets really baking hot. Especially from 11h00 onward. It starts out an idyllic day for the racing snakes, cool and windless, that will make for new record times. They finish well before mid morning. But the later riders then suffer badly in the heat.

If the Northeaster blows, then it is cool with a chance of rain (not very likely).

Well, what is the scenario if it is NW? Wasn't the wind of 2009 a NW? The early predictions is a fairly NW- (I know it's still a long way out and the forecasts will change everyday from here onwards)

Also known as the year I did not get my sub 3   :D

Spidy, that was the last time I had a realistic chance of a Sub 3.

Trained my arse off, spent hours in the Gym, all to no avail. It demoralized me so much, that I scarcely trained for the 2010 edition, and when it turned out to be a windy ride also, I took my time. Even stopped for a visit to the loo in Houtbay. Was my slowest Argus to date.
