I didnt report back on this... but i managed to isolate the problem to my pedals the night before die burger, and sorted it out so thankfully had a quiet race...

The damn click is back though.... and this time its not the pedals... it still happens when I freewheel...

i'm losing my mind here....

Give us some more here.

So you freewheel, ie no movement on the pedals and yet it is still there?

Does it happen at the same intervals?  When you ride faster, the click becomes faster?

Are you holding the bike still or are you moving a bit that could have an effect on the bike.

What speed sensors and cadence sensors do you have?

When you freewheel are you sitting or standing.  Does it happen with both.

Freewheeling sitting down, did seem to be worse on the dirt so thought it may be the shock?

Click is very erratic...

Not using any sensors or anything.... only extra bit on the bike is a bottle cage...

Most annoying sound on down stroke ever!

Whooo there partner.

The worst sound I ever heard on the down stroke was "did I tell you that I had gone off the Pill?"

I have something similar on my MTB.  I suspect schock/fork.  I will start this weekend by taking the fork out and clean and relube the headset.  Putting some lube on the stem and handlebar where they are bolted together could not hurt (had a clicking noise for long on my roadbike that turned out to be comming from there).

All of a sudden I hear those cockpit sounds on Air Accident Investigation .... Pull up! Pull up! Pull up!

I had a clicking sound a couple of years back.

This went on for weeks.

I tightened everything.

I lubed everything that should be lubed.

I lubed some things that shouldn't be lubed.

Turns out it was the was cord of my rainjacket hitting the frame.  :blush:

What bike is it?

I went through a click/squeak issue with my many pivot Spaz recently. i did the following:

1. Replaced the BB;

2. removed the BB and greased the threads;

3. removed chain ring bolts and greased them;

4. tightened the headset and seat post;

5. Undid all the pivots and added grease to the bearings one of which was very stiff - smooth after the service;

6. Checked the cassette and skewer, crank bolts, etc

Noise refused to quit.

later, checked pedals - pedal body was loose on the axle l/h pedal. Tightened pedal body and the pedal in the crank and voila, no more noise. This has remained the case for a few months..

If the noise is occurring when you are seated and freewheeling along then it is more likely to be a seat post or head set creak. My headset needs tightening every so often. its easy to identify, Brake sharply up front and listen for the creak when the headset absorbs the forces. Try standing and freewheeling to eliminate the seat post.

Bike creaks are maddening and often very difficult to isolate.

I also get this annoying creaking sound. I was/am convinced it's the pivot. I removed, checked re-set, re-greased it and re-assembled. Still there. Then I thought it could be the rear shock bearings. RE-did them too. Still there. RE-did crank bolts, checked tightness of BB - Fine, Checked BB bearings, Fine, took off cluster, checked and re-greased, all fine. Took off pedals and checked - fine.

Still creaks!

The are literally endless places that a click can come from.

Last week a bike shop sent us a bike that had a click on pedalling - they suspected it was the Hope hub :lol:. Took 30 seconds to diagnose and tighten a loose rear derailleur.

I Had a click on each pedal revolution, most pronounced when on large chainring in front and 2nd 3rd largest gear on rear...turned out my one jockey guide wheel on RD was cracked right through...

squeaks can be absolutely frustrating, especially when on a new bike.

I had a click click click on my Propel, It sounded like it was coming from the left crank arm but after trying a few different things, it turned out being a loose chainring bolt.

Really a guessing game.

My bike was making a racket, but only on morning rides. Afternoons were fine. Turns out it was the seatpost, but ONLY when it was cold. Bike shop said it was the pedals.... Go figure

Had also a clicking/ticking noise on my bike every single pedal stroke LBS could not find it, then one day while I had my bike on service stand and was cleaning chain I found the problem.

Where the cable connects to the front derailleur cable was to long and the cable end cap touching pedal, problem solved

I have the same problem - will try your fix. At a point where it may drive me mad.
