ASO and uci agree to keep 18 teams.. (PS dimension data sponsorship regarding on board data in the tdf also helped [emoji6] )

That's great!

And now they have to plan to keep their place. The way the WT points work means they have to bring a top 10 gc rider in, but who doesn't need other teammates, or at most 1 or 2. Meintjes would've been perfect!

Yeah, but I am not sure that Cav would like this.....

Therein lies the problem, had he raced more WT events before the TDF he could've scored them some good points.. instead is whole racing season was planned around he track and the TDF as an added event.

And again they haven't signed anyone like that.. all youngsters and worker bees

I applaud what they are doing, they are really developing some great riders.. it is just not going to help them right now. Think they may also have been caught out with some riders that were on the market but they missed the chance to sign them.. eg.. Ben Swift and a few others that either went to Bahrain or TJ sport.

Thats why I said like Meintjes. He can do it on his own! Cav wouldn't (shouldn't really) mind that.

At least the olympic track year is finished so Cav will definitely do more WT road events again [emoji106]

They have signed Lachlan Morton for GC according to me, and Remember last year they were shocked that Meintjies left. But for sure they will need to work on GC this year a bit more at the World Tour events.

18 WT teams with 8 riders = 144 riders

16 WT teams with 9 riders = 144 riders

What's the difference? 18 teams get to showcase their stuff instead of 16.

I know the Tour has 22 teams x 9 = 198 (max in a UCI event is 200), but they have wild card invitees too.

Cav will do what he wants to do. Pretty sure that was one of the conditions that came with him, and Renshaw, and Farrar and and ......

Doug did what he needed to do to announce DD on the WT, he achieved that. But now he needs to manage the risk in over capatilising in Cav.

Its just the next step in maturing into a true WT team. They will get there.
