Right...been there, done that....

First off, this trail should be declared illegal and something should be written into the constitution to ensure that the innocent don't get exposed to this type of thing...in fact that whole area should be shut down!

Yes, so much of FUN is just not legal, surely!!

So to go back to the OP...this was the first time I've ridden here and don't know what it was like before the alleged "dumb-down" but I really enjoyed it...as for "technical", that's a subjective opinion and as such, yes, the only toight section (for me) was that rock slab right left but only because of the loose rock and marbles and the fact that I never walked it out prior to riding it  . Oh and there was a rock sender I missed both times...next time maybe!

Corners/switchbacks are nice and tight and you can easily lose it if you going too fast and there are still lots of small "obstacles" you can choose to hit. The climb back up is OK (I did push a bit on the second run  ) so repeats are easy if you moderately fit.

The run back down to the car park was excellent and had a few fun features although that table at the end caught me as I had washed out all my speed in the preceding berm and wasn't expecting it...again, maybe next time.

The snapscan is cool...

So...in all a great trail and I'll definitely be going back ....That Z trail looks fun as well so there's that too!

From your pics, those seem to all be the Cobra, not Trail Z. So maybe you missed the new section? You might have to go back... :)

I often ride alone on the durbanville trails and really enjoy it. Somtimes I rides and thinks and sometimes i just rides.

It has occured to me that a busted bone might create problems ....

I rode Hillcrest alone on Friday morning and according to strava there were only one or 2 others who did. That would be a long time lying in pain humming Mussorgorsky's "Night on bare mountain" to myself.

I see quite a few other solo riders. how many others ride alone?

Speedy recovery to the injured rider.
