what would have this bike costed you if you bought it new ??

Retails for about 1500 - 1700 € here in Germany (That would make it between R22 500 - R26 500)

I brake with my index finger so my other 3 fingers get caught between the handlebar and the lever. Sometimes I use my index and middle finger...depending on how close to falling I am.

That does not make any sense...

I think the OP in this case, unlike the wheel saga, has a case for a full refund under CPA. Granted, things have moved on given that the shop owner is refunding the cost of forced repairs. But failure to disclose problems is prime CPA ammunition for overturning the initial sale, and given they are a cycling store, they have the means and expertise to make those determinations as to what constitutes problems with the bike, and remedying them prior to sale.

while you are busy why not just upgrade the brakes and get something decent?

Appreciate that Capricorn....I just want the thing to ride as well as to stop ;) But it has been in the back of my mind. I will see how things turn out. I'm all about second chances.

Common decency, better than CPA :)

Those are nice...but unfortunately my whole bike budget (and a wee bit of children's college fund) went into what I received..

Few words of advice. - edited

1. Tyre sealant in the garage, kitchen if no garage at least or best outside on the grass. - Bike sleep in it's own room, unfortunately it's carpeted still. Considering tiles after wife's scolding

2. Learn to type with two hands. - how am I going to hold my beer then?

3. Consumer protection act. - back of my mind stuff....I'm all about second chances.

I was imagining something like this... :)
