Did anyone else notice the disdain showed by Aru after he was chatted to by no other than Porte I think? He showed a definite disapproval but acceded in the end.

And didn't Astana after that then proceed to aid Froome in closing down the leaders?

Yup, when Chris asked for help it was Astana who put their hand up.

maybe lost in translation a bit... perhaps they thought he asked who attacked during his mechanical...

I think they just like playing on both sides of the fence...

Sure we do. What do you suggest we do about it? Should we write to the riders union and ask them to change it?

Like I typed before.

It's cool to discuss it as part of the viewing and fanfare experience.

No solution here. Just fans yapping. And it's all good.

Well, unless ARU decided to race for 3rd spot on podium he had to work. Could not afford Bardet to open up time.

Week three might see guys like Aru breaking more of the unwritten rules as the risk of repurcussions from the Peloton become less. Especially if there is allot to gain/

I understand their thinking, although I don't agree with it: The history books will note your position on GC in Paris. It won't scrap your name because you attacked CF on the last day in Paris.

If Aru is within 10 seconds of taking yellow on the last day, I wouldn't be surprised if Astana manufactures something to give them a chance at victory...

I don't know about that. They had a good opportunity to make Froome work harder.. every bit of energy he spends they save. And up the road Bardet was also spending a lot of energy, over 3 weeks it all adds up... well safe to say the tour is not following any previous scripts...

Yes I did. That is why I said he knew about the mechanical. I tried to find a youtube clip but could not find one.

To add.. Astana are the dodge team of the peloton. .always have been and always will be.. they have a manager that always believed you do anything to win no matter what, even if that means attacking your own team mate so be it.

What they have done over the years is no surprise..

But I do think that in the age of professional cycling where tech setup and durability is almost as important as rider ability.. that this unwritten rule is maybe one that needs to be forgotten as I honestly think it is manipulated too many times... that's just my opinion.

How often does it really happen? I do not recall to many instances. There was the Contador/Schleck incident a few years ago.  Last year CF also had a bike change but that was after a motorbike wrote his bike off.  Don't think that was on order ;)  I remeber in the Lance / Ulirch days there was one tour where both waited on one another.  So I do not think this is something that gets manipulated.

Also when an attack is in progress then I think it is tough for the leader in anyway.  It is only not to attack when there is a technical.

Which makes it exciting.

Trust me, Astana was more worried about Bardet unseating Aru in second position.

I find value in this opinion. Had they sat back and expected CF to do all the chasing, they would have been big losers too, so it was no "lets help out Froome" as some suggest but rather a "we have all to gain here" so lets work.
