Cav' Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 Very happy Barguil got his win after the disappointment the other day. Berto had a superb day, think he'll definitely try again in the Alps. Sky looks rattled and Aru played it smart.

Cav' Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 I do not think Louis has at this stage of his career the power to stay with Yates on the flatter roads.Uran gave him a few words there for sticking on the back like a bumper sticker.

dev null Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 Uran gave him a few words there for sticking on the back like a bumper sticker. Good. He needs to put his hand up. Yates is going to blow I think in the last week. Everytime with a long climb he is starting to lose pace, and then just manage to get back on the downhill. Meintjes must be patient.

Bub Marley Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 As much as we all love the Cheese, he's probably worse than Quintana at wheel sucking. The man needs to start taking some risks now. I personally think next year he should forget the Tour and rather go for the Giro. Less big names present and he'll have more opportunities to actually do something. To me he just looks a bit frightened to do something with the big boys around.
Pah Bear Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 Think he shows to much respect. Or ... he just cannot do it.
Pah Bear Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 Frustrated today watching The Cheese. Unable to press the attack close to the top when Yates fell off, then allowed Yates to come back on the down, then fell asleep and let Yates get away on the flat. Yesterdays HARD earned few sec's wiped with a much easier downish break. Eish.
TALUS Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 In case other people have also wondered (data from different riders vary a bit): Stage about 100km Climbing about 2300mAve above 37km/hAve Watts 251W (Ten Dam) (The only one that I could find quickly) Compare that with your own 100km races.
DJuice Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 He would need to take more risks if he wants to take White. He did not want to take up the challenge as Yates went with MartinMade a similar comment before, was schooled.Louis is riding intillegent and is already in the red on his max. What I take from that is he will be good for another top ten.Hopefully in a few years he can compete for the podium. Still cheering for Louis! Go Louis!
Zorro5614 Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 Yes maybe I am to hard on Meintjies. Brilliant to be within 5min of these great riders

Brilliant to be within 5min of these great ridersThink my response and feelings are more about wanting/wishing/desperation for him to do well. Would dearly love to see our South Africa export have greater success. I'm just impatient to see him improve. Hear rumours of him being scooped up by DDD before Aru ends up at UAE and he gets downgraded as support. Lets see. Top 10 is a bloody great position anyway. HOWEVER I WANT MOREEEEEE.
Bonus Posted July 14, 2017 Author Posted July 14, 2017 Wow! A fantastic day to be at the Tour! So many things to tell . . . . Had a chat with Louis this morning :-) Was great to see him again and he is very cool, calm and collected for a guy who came in 5th yesterday and is 10th overall in the Tour de France! Will post some pics tomorrow - it made Wendy's day - I think she wants to adopt him! Saw Bertie and Nairo when they rode to sign in. NQ shows no emotion, ever. He was very concentrated his morning (I know why now) and was escorted to the sign in stage by a Movistar mechanic on an MTB. I cheered for Bertie as he rode past and he gave me a smile. Saw RJVJ and Jaco at the DD bus but they weren't chatting much. I did get to talk to SC though. We couldn't see Daryl but we did have a good look at the Orica bikes. Chris had a car escort him to sign on and he looked pretty chilled. Nice to see Sky actually engaging the supporters a bit more nowadays. Then we drove out to 4km from the end and waited. We had no phone service so what came next was completely out of the blue! NQ was leading the break when they past us and they were flying! There was quite a gap and then in quick succession came a solo Dan Martin, who looked like he burying himself - very impressed with him again this year - then a single rider I didn't identify followed by the yellow jersey group with Froome, Aru etc. after that there were some long gaps between various groups before the final rider past us. We were on a slight down hill so they were all moving it. I took some vids. I'll see if they are good enough to post tomorrow! A great day. It seems like Bertie and NQ always get together and go full guns when I turn up to watch!

Sky looks rattled and Aru played it smart.Yah, I think Vino's hand is very evident here, he was a scrappy rider and won mostly on solo jaunts, this riding is right up Vino's alley and he was watching carefully, there was no luck here in my opinion, Aru was quite able to cover everything thrown at him (as actually, was Bardet) by SKY and his strategy was perfect, he never flinched, not once....the TT may throw him but SKY wont get that jersey back without a fight.
