Rocket-Boy Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 This was always a real possibility that he would pull the plug here, but I really think he was injured enough to drop it. Bling (and sunweb in general) did a helluva job pulling the lead back to only 9 points, but it was still always going to come down to Paris. After cav and sagz pulled out i checked the betting odds. Kittel/demare were basically even money, bling was 4/1 and greipel 18/1. greipel is now 40/1. Thinking of putting R200 on that, one crash to bling and that's R8k thank you! Greipel also battled last year and then won on Champs-Elysees. Im still pegging him for the win this time. I like Greipel so I hope he can get his head right and take that win.
EmptyB Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 Here is video of Roglic going downhill in 2007 before he became a pro cyclist, this accident led to him giving up ski jumping of which he was a junior world champion Faaaaaaaaark!!!!!
scotty Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 Other than this asthma incident, anyone who thinks that the riders are treated equally by the orgs and the public appear to be blinkered. A search on Froome punching spectator during tour shows he did and was fined but there were further calls for him to be kicked out. A search on Contador punching fan shows he did but was not fined nor were there calls for him to be kicked out

Cav' Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 All I want to see today is Louis attack from the beginning of that final climb. Just go for it, mate. To be frank if needs 3 minutes on Yates going into the TT he might need to attack on the first climb. Let's see what happens. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk ProThere's a better chance of it snowing during today's stage.
Vetplant Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 And they're off. Annnnnnd with that my productivity takes it's daily nosedive... If my boss truly knew what was going on at my desk he would be very pleased that tomorrow is the last workday of Le Tour...
Wannabe Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 Annemiek Van Vleuten won La Course by Le Tour de France 12:56 Orica-Scott's Annemiek Van Vleuten has won he fourth edition of La Course by Le Tour de France atop the col d'Izoard. After she attacked with 4.5km to go, the Dutch cyclist reached the summit 43 seconds before British champion Lizzie Deignan and 1.23 before Italian champion Elisa Longo Borghini.
J Wakefield Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 WELL NOW..............Different rules i suppose, and i'm sure he wont get piss thrown at him by the french either. It has been well documented years ago, I think around the Liberty days that Alberto has been using a pump and medically diagnosed. its been on this medical record since then. The explosion with Froome came in that the had no TUE, no mention anywhere of him having asthma other it was interviews, his personal book etc. After the outcry it seems to of disappeared and he hasn't ever mentioned it or used the pump.
Vetplant Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 I wonder if EBH should maybe target the intermediate Sprint today... if he Takes the 20 points and Kristoff misses out, he then sits in 3rd for Green... With the rate that riders are pulling out we might even see Greipel and Bling head home before Paris....
Pure Savage Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 Off to client meeting and then possibly a watt bike.

J Wakefield Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 If you read my article on why they going faster or as fast there a lot of answers in there for you. I found your article very interesting and while no doubt all credible reasons behind the modern day performances when compared to the doping era. However, I find it hard to believe that these marginal improvements in equipment, diet, training and extra cars in the race can replace the blatant drug assisted race performances of the past. but if we take it from a different angle on Contador alone he always gets better and goes stronger as a Tour gets deeper into the weeks. Maybe, and yes he did have a great ride for a section of yesterdays stage but still off the pace at the end of the stage and he is falling further behind as the tour goes on. He responds very well to load and volume. If you see how he has gone over the last 2.5 weeks he has actually gotten better and better. so this may mean he he came in well under done and battled in the beginning. He also hasn't done much over the last few days and could of recovered well into these 2 days and it is also well known he goes very well in the Alps. he always has over the last forever years. Again, it was a huge once off effort, much like Aru wins, and AC paid for it later towards the end but Contador is well known also for these type of efforts and attacks go for broke. Contador, like so many of Sky's rivals needs better advice. If you are going to spend energy in an effort you need to get a result. These days Alberto, sadly, is not achieving the same results he once did. Bardet has had team mates up the road on a few days this year, yesterday was the same, problem was that once he reached his team mate he went straight past and received no assistance. My point is that AGLM are using up valuable resources and not achieving much. I believe Bardet is going to be a real talent, but desperately needs a sports director with more brains. Louis received some assistance yesterday from his team and yes it paid dividends but I cant help but think that at one stage yesterday Bontempi was thinking of a stage win for Atapuma. This was not to be and he was able to help Louis. Froome's performance has not been exceptional, it's just been consistent. Other riders need to pay attention to this as do the team managers. No doubt they lack the resources that Sky has but they are well short of strategy. If you read my article on why they going faster or as fast there a lot of answers in there for you. No doubt they lack the resources that Sky has but they are well short of strategy. Point 1: Ive never said that they all clean and stated that in my article. You mention how AC is falling behind, yes you right so if he was up to his gills in it dont you think he would of kept going after that attack and not fade? He has gotten better as the tour has gone on, he is attacking, staying with the front guys when the climbs are going and so forth. 1st week and a half he wasn't. Regardless wether he is riding into form, they 2.5 weeks into a Tour, fatigue is a huge variable here. Not every once off effort is due to a rider being full of drugs. Thats very disrespectful to any of them riding. For example if you a trader on the JSE and are successful - it would be someone saying you only successful due to insider trading. Point 2: Contador is the most winningest and successful Tour rider in the current peloton and will be after that. Remember he was winning GT's at 24, Froome was riding the Jock at 26 for Konica Minolta. 2 very very different paths to current race results. Bardet was riding around the French amateur circuit. Contador is past his prime but no one in their prime now comes close to what he has achieved. Athletes will always hit a performance peak and fade, thats how new generation comes up the ladders. If that doesn't happen then Eddie Merckx would be winning the Tour with 4 days to go. Tactics just cause they didnt work, doesn't mean they stupid or need better advice. AG2R's tactically this year have outshone everyone and every team.Have you thought that maybe Bardet team mates were so spent when he made it across that they couldnt follow and that right there the plan never worked? Who's fault is that then? DS or just that you broken? It happens look at Yates. 9/10 tries is a solid strike ratio. Atapuma wasn't going to beat Roglic yesterday that oke was solid. There is a difference between being able to execute a plan correctly and being able to have the strength to finish it. In closing if you look at how many riders are DNF and this route is really not that hard in terms of Tour history it shows that things are a lot cleaner than before. my 2c.

Wannabe Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 Eish, true to form!! Maincheese did not join the break in the main peloton, nevermind the few guys making a run for it on the front.Nah, he'll rather sit and look at Froomes wheel. I'm getting impatient with the youngster.....
