Tokens look great. can't comment on them much as i have not ridden them.

i very nearly bought a set, but opted for for a set of Roval CLX60s that were demo and going for a song.

i had some DH wheels in the past - mine flexed badly, which eventually led to me selling them - on every hill i could hear the wheels lightly brush the pads.

DH does take care of their customers. my front wheel failed and was replaced without any hassle.

I have ridden a set of Darkhorse 38mm clinchers since they were launched in SA and have not had any problems. Still on my bike. Changed from Campag 11 speed to SRAM smoothly. Would certainly recommend it.

Ok, so I'm in the market for a set of 50mm carbon clincher rims on a disc brake bike...  People ask me why carbon, and its pretty simple, i've had a thing for carbon wheels since I was like 3.  It looks cool and i've finally saved up (partially) for an upgrade...

The questions:

1)  I live in the bundu's and I can only visit one or max two bike shops while I'm in Joburg next weekend.  Is there a specific shop or a known Guru in the carbon rim world that stocks a number of different rim options (both cheap and expensive) that one can go visit with the ability to explain pro's, con's etc. of the different brands etc.  Maybe even let you test ride to feel the differences??

2)  Also, are internal rim widths standard with road bikes, or are they also getting wider on disc bikes as they have gotten wider with MTB wheels.

I believe that the price range is somewhere between R15k for Mavic's, to around R50 for Zipp's or Enve's.  With that type of price variability, there has to be some serious benefits other than just the logo on the sticker...

Also only had a great service from DH, can highly recommend them!

Why not give them a shout and see if you can loan a demo pair?

CSixx is about to launch their road wheels soon.

Incredible after sales, but also custom matched decals and amazing crash / damage replacement... I'd wait for them to launch.

As mentioned before when this thread was started, Token are decent and really well priced. Chat to Warren, he is based in the Fourways area. He is also on bikehub so you can even chat to him here. He has a lekker website as well. I have dealt with him before and can highly recommend him.

Educate me please.

Who makes these "Marvel" wheels, so where does the RRP come from for them?

I think it's CWC who get a chinese manufacturer to personalize wheels/products for them as an in-house brand.

Why not import a set yourself, contact Yuananbike, and get yourselft a set of Dimpled, 45/ 50/ 60 etc and choose your ubs, Novatec, DT Swiss or even their own brand.

You can LAND it here for around 6-8K and 3 year warranty, and they do offer a good one.

This is their website
