Genuine question asked out of ignorance.

what is the issue with Blu52 ?

i assume it's because it is sold by Verimark and has ridonkuliss infomercials that can't be taken seriously.

Blue copper sulphate

Ahhh, fit for human consumption then as rumour had it that Army coffee was one part burnt and ground up acorn and two parts blou fieterjoel .

I find it ironic that Pfizer chose to make Viagra blue...

They say it's within legal limits for potable water if correctly mixed - but as far as I know it would accumulate copper in the water over time, as you add more than is disposed of - as it doesn't degrade apparently, and you would have to flush the water out or use a copper chelateing compound.

Soooo, I have a Gunite pool with a crack around and in the skimmer box. For proper repair (long term solution) suggestions are to remove the skimmer box and the after inserting a new one re-marbelite the pool or fibre line it. Anybody got any experience on the advantages of one over the other. Price is about the same.

had a fibre glass pool when we moved in, it delaminated, had it redone and it did not last 10 years.

I've now just redone the pool with marbelite.

If the pool guy knows what he is doing marbelite is the way to go. I would not want to go fibre glass ever again.

But, you get pool guys and then you get pool guys, we went through an exercise and got about 8 different pool guys out. Eventually settled on the guy we were most comfortable with rather than going for the cheapest.

Some of these guys push their ideas etc. and are not interested in what you want. So my advise would be to get a few guys in to have a look and quote.

Replace the skimmer box. I had a problem a year ago with the weir, spent a lot trying to repair it. Never worked, eventually fired the company and got someone else to put in a new weir.

I agree with OUZO about pool guys, it seems that experience and references count for a lot in this field.

even with experience and references do your homework.

We had a few companies that we called because they were recommended to us, we were not happy with any of them. One of them happens to be a company that was featured recently on Carte Blanch, so our instincts were correct.

problem is to replace the skimmer box you have to chop out the old one and then after fitting the new one you have to patch up the marbeliting .
