shouldn't the thread title be "what bike ARE Titan?"

Nope....Raleigh in SA were owned by Probike. They made their own bikes which were unique to SA.

Scott bought Probike in 2011 and Raleigh UK immediately withdrew their naming rights to the Raleigh brand. Scott simply started to use the Axis name instead. There is no connection to Titan.

Raleigh UK appointed a new agent and is now selling the entry level UK bikes, which is a huge pity

yup, question on that is, who owns the hyperama section of Raleigh? they're still selling loads of those!

Apologies for not being able to read between the lines then. . . Which then begs the question as to why you bought a bike that you thought was stupid?

Don't get me wrong, I think Titan is a great value brand, looking at purchasing one myself as a way of getting into the MTB thing without making my wallet cry.

Was just interested to know why you think/thought it's a stupid bike?

like silverback is designed in germany, thats what I meant what country. but thanks all the rest I have a better idea now.

Silverback is designed in South Africa.. Next to the Cape Town airport.

It used to be manufactured in Germany but I think now days almost every factory bicycle company has ties in asia as well.

Well, anyway, just my 2 cents to rile you up a bit more

why not jase

As someone who is looking to buy one I was interested to see if there was some reason for your opinion, but "why not" is not very helpful, thanks though.
