I've also had this noise coming from where the dropouts interface with the frame or wheel. Removed and cleaned both, greased and fitted solved it.

Looks like the hanger can be the culprit as well.

Painting the bike with a grease brush later.

As a last resort....I had a cracked (Shimano) jockey wheel. Used to make the occasional click. Drove me mad tracing that...

Well, just stripped the rear end and relubed and torqued the axles, hanger, and stripped and cleaned the derailleur including a thorough inspection.

Trails are a bit soggy so Ill do a road test later.

I will ride it until whatever clicks breaks and then replace it.

Got a similar problem 😟

I turned the plastic turn dial left then right, tighter, on the left crank. What is this dial? 😳😁Scott RC 900 WC

Should it be tight at all times, seems this took the weird creek noise away.

Have had a similar noise

eventually removed the thru axle, surgically cleaned it, proper fastened it, sorted

yes,  the bike went into LBS

my mate made me ride in circles said I know what it is climb off

he fastened the thru axle it was better he said ok stop, cleaned it Sorted stripped cleaned a bit of graphite grease done

that and check your saddle is not cracked as suggested above

nothing worse than that **** when you on a climb and all you hear is tick tick tick

Thanks Mr Dips.

I did the axle surgery today.

Degrease axle. Used Park Tool ASC on the threads, Polylube on the shaft, and fibergrip on any surface where metal meets carbon.

Did the same for the derailleur hanger.

I’m dreaming maybe but it sounded like it clicked less on the ride. Less angry.

Tomorrow I’ll do some work on the dropper post and saddle. Highly doubt it is there since I can feel the click through the pedals. (not the pedals, tried a different set)

Then… swopping wheels with the Stumpjumper to rule out my entire wheel.

have you cleaned the area where the saddle rails are clamped ?

Wont make me feel the click through my pedals and will creak differently. Had that problem before and it easy to identify by flexing the saddle with your hands.

Also won’t click when standing.

I thought I recognised you.

Going trough the poplar forest is getting very bad and so is John’s trail.

I did a quick 10k to test. First part of #2 and then onto #3 through BRB and then the last 10km but skipping John’s Trail. Finish just after the first half of Hallelujah.

Isolated the clunk to my rear wheel. Switched wheels with the lady and it made the noise on her bike.

Sounds almost dead on in the middle of the cassette so I’m suspecting a freewheel that is dying or the inner bearings being the culprits.
