guys' date=' i do have to agree with skye on this. as scorpione rightly poitns out - thehub does tend to have the most lewdness/crudeness of non-sex-related sites out there. i'm certainly no prude but there are limits. if stuff can be removed because it merely questions christianity then surely a line can be drawn re smut? sammajoors' isn't too bad but the other two should really be kept for the boys' (or lesbians) clubs.

p.s. due to the nature of my job i can NOT switch of images in my browser and very often screen shots or diagrams are used in technical papers etc

For instance i don't mind having a thread with girls in there bikini's etc, etc.

That i can skip if i am using pc's in another environent like the computer labs i use regularly.

But, just wanting to read normal cycling related threads become a problem due to a bunch of avatars that is crossing the line a bit for a person around me that doesn't know whats going on and i get reported and send packing!

That is not so difficult to do, please!! We all want to hub without issues!

To a point I agree with you' date=' but then, when last did you make a cycling related post on the hub?

Sold my bike case on the hub the other day.

Posted about the Giro  a day ago need I go on, people seem to be having selective memory loss now as well.  Don't just throw a stone in a bush to hear a dog yelp, rather participate instead of trying to stir even more

...more importantly than personal rights and opinions, a fair indication of the state of a society is it's respect for, as well as inderstanding of, one another as members of that community. Reality is that each of us joined this community because it was cycling oriented and expectations are that, in the main, cycling subjects will dominate discussions.

My feeling is that this basic premise has been lost. Respect and understanding in this country has unfortunately been eroded by so called rights and that is clearly reflected here. Cycling has taken a back seat to what everyone perceives to be their personal rights and their right to foist this on all of us. I did not join this forum to discuss politics, religion, rights or sex.....I joined it to engage with similar minded individuals on matters to do with cycling....

Okay, I think enough is enough.

Here's the deal.

No posting of fleshy / lewd / pornographic images in topics. If you want to have an eye candy thread - as has been done tastefully in the past - create one in the Chit Chat forum. BUT don't feel the need to continously push the envelope even within these topics.

If these images are posted in other topics they will be deleted without warning and your user account will be suspended for 7 days. If it happens again your account will be disabled permanently.

Regarding the avatars similar will apply.  Also on the point  of avatars there are many users with avatars from other sources which have a big file size. The limit for uploaded avatars is 5kb - I'm now going to apply the same rule with external avatars. These images slow down the loading of pages and eat up peoples bandwidth.

This post above and the one from OX Wagon are the ones that really get to the issue.

Its too difficult to debate the line, religion, morals etc because we are all so different.... So lets not, mainly because I agree the avatars discussed have nothing to do with the line, religion or morals ( we really have no idea of those members religion, morals etc )

But reading topics in a public space, at work and at home make things difficult. Its easy to not click on a particular thread that you know is going to have delicious views of the fairer sex, buts its not so easy to avoid the avatars when you are scrolling down reading a cycling thread.

My shop is a retail shop and my desk can be viewed by the public. At home I have two small boys who are not shy to shout out about what I am reading. My wife finds images like that offensive...

So I dont mind the images, ( in fact some of them are great! ) but i need to be mindful of who else sees them while I am reading..

So bottom line, avatars cant be avoided, tasteful photo  thread can be..

And thats why we cant tell members to not look or read, like we sometimes do to people who moan about late night tv on etv etc..

Yes I am new to this forum, but this debate has existed on many other forums I have belonged to over the years. Its not just cycling chaps..

tikki, some of us work in open plan offices and some are students who use pc's in labs

if you want soft porn etc create a thread so we know not to open it - it's that simple. but when we want to read a threead that is cycling related we can't risk it because we don't know who all replied so we don't know what avatars are going to pop up

a pelvic thrust in a virtually non-existent bikini right at the camera lens is not appropriate in a corporate environment - if you work at a motor mechanic or panel beaters lucky you, but the rest of us don't.
