CX Wheels

depends on tyre size you plan on fitting. i went to AC Victory 30 disc... basically they're the same as the rim brake version with the brake track coated in black. Decent width MTB rims may be too wide for even a 28C road tyre and will stretch it out too much - ETRTO 17 or 19 will be fine for wider road or narrower MTB tyres if I'm reading the table correctly

Upgrade bug is starting.

Whats a good, not too expensive CX wheel?

Bike is a Crux Sport, so no point in going bananas with massively expensive hoops.

R5k- R6k?

Damn. I was going to offer to build a set of carbon hoops laced to some project 321 hubs....

any 29er rim will do just fit 40c tyre or more to avoid snake bite from rim

Using 35's without issue. Tubeless no problem. But my rims are 19mm internal.

I have run 28c GP4000s on my 19mm internal width Hope rims and 32 mm and 40mm tubeless.

I've got a set of Rapide R29 wheels, best wheels I have had in years (my personal criteria for rating equipment is very different to most people's so let's just say these are the best wheels for me).

They are 21mm internal width and I run 32mm Roubaix Pro tyres with tubes at 4-5bar for road, and 42mm Vittoria AdventureTrail in tubeless setup at 2-3bar for my off-the-beaten-path rides. Switching between axle configurations is an absolute dream, so quick and easy to do.

Need to know more about what you're expecting out of the wheel in order to give a recommendation as to what would be good for you though. Personally I would go handbuilt, with a spoke count and rim profile to match your needs (32-spoke durable alu MTB wheels or 40mm deep sections for bling bling? Get exactly what you want is what I say ;) )

Admittedly I have been eyeing these for a while too...

So looks like I might have gotten my hands on a set of Roval Carbons. 22mm internal, says max pressure is 3bar.

So what is a good 35-38mm tubless try, gravel mostly?

These from Spez roll very nice

On my 17mm internal rim the 38mm measures closer to 35, but on your wheels they should measure wider

I've been using a set of Roval Control Carbons on my CX bike. I've run both the Spez Terra Pro and the Spez Trigger. I've run them as high as 5bar with no problems, but tend to keep them around 3-4 bar.

Just for info.

Dropped the pressure on my Cx adventures this December to around 2.2 Bar.  Worked perfectly on the rougher Karoo and Cederberg roads.

Was too lazy to put on real Cx tyres so I ran so Kenda 40c commuter tyres, worked perfectly, but lost traction on gradients steeper than 15%.
