They don't get paid so erm, why would they set fires and miss work, lose sleep and experience hell. The working with fire guys do get paid, however I doubt they are the ones starting these. Funny though how the fires start on the 1st windy day in weeks. This is ridiculous. Every year! Makes my blood boil

Not sure how true that is...Heard this from some firefighter captain too. Mostly volunteers, the ones imported from other regions to "assist" in the fire season. They only get paid when they work. After xmas most people are broke, and before that people need money to travel to see relatives, celebrate etc. Ironically it never burns over/during the holiday season itself.

Not sure how true that is... so if you are not sure how true it is why carry on the rumour ? it smacks of undertones. it is an insult to those who do volunteer and protect us. do you also sabotage your work so you can get more money ? Slowbee Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 just got back from wedderwill and moving horses. it was choas!!! cops at the entrance would not let us in, till there was a cue of about 5 horse boxes. we eventually just bullied our way in. the horses were freaked out and it was every person looking after their own horses. several horses had to be physically picked up kicking and all and literary thrown into the box. my heart is broken at what we saw. and as the fire got closer some of the horses had never been boxed. just had to chase them. some horrible insurance claims

They have no idea how much damage they are causing the economy and to people's lives. I knew it was arson the moment I saw the plume going up, the hottest time of the day on the first real windy day of the hot season. Most probably targeting the estates of the wealthy. If they don't get this fire under control by Thursday, Helderberg will be tickets. Tomorrow will be 10 degrees hotter than today, and Thursday the SE will be stronger than today according to Windguru.
