Taxi driving on Milnerton cycle path

Pretty much any fee paying school resembles a scene from Wacky Races around opening and closing time.

One of the main reasons we pay for aftercare at Sweetvalley is so that I don't have to deal with the selfish idiots that think parking you in, blocking driveways or even using the nearest pedestrian crossing as a conveniently marked parking bay is perfectly okay if it means mummy and her little princess don't have to walk more than six foot to the car after a rough day watching the maid do all the work.

my boys primary school also has an issue with traffic in the mornings and the afternoons. what the principle has done to ease the congestion, is to actively encourage a culture of kiss and go in the mornings and then at close of day she has staggered the times the various grades leave (15min) slots. this has made a huge difference.

taxis on the cycle lane .... have fortunately not witnessed this before.

SUV driving School run Moms and Dads, are genuinely the biggest dickheads on earth.

You are ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND PERCENT CORRECT.

My second group is the 18-25 year old girls who's daddy's bought them their hatchbacks. Their list of priorities goes something like this.

1. The mirror (Looking at themselves)

2. Selfies

3. Updating facebook

4. Instagram

5. fixing makeup

6. Keeping the car pointed more or less in the correct direction.

I've seen taxi's in the BRT lane (Once) and they were dealt with pretty damn swiftly.

Unfortunately, the BRT lanes in Pretoria are TRTs. Granted, the North/South buses are not running yet, but still. Cops not patrolling enough, and when they do, they up and go when one of those taxi "police" (mob enforcers) cars come and have a chat.

Law unto their own...

Hey, my mom is not that bad! She never dropped me off because I cycled to school. Also, there is a massive avenue the yummy mommies use, so dont even cause traffic issues. Unlike the Rondebosch mom's that park all over the road :P

I think the worst are still old tannies, those old bats pull out of side roads and either cannot or dont see anything coming. Going through the Helderberg (basically an old age village) the other day this old bat pulled out in front of a Fortuner she didnt see, I was on the bike behind the fortuner and could not believe it!

Definitely not, what time did this happen?

it was about 5.45pm and about 100 metres from the Paddocks intersection. colour red with Hullets Suger advertising on it. a cyclist that i know - Ian Naude had just ridden past in the direction of Milnerton with his 2 sons in tow. about 2 minutes later a traffic management vehicle came flying down the BRT lane but drove straight past the taxi which was about 50 metres ahead of me. by the time i had turned off at Blaauwberg Rd the taxi had dissapeared so it seems as if the traffic management vehicle was on another mission.

Cheers, and thanks for the detail. I'll make sure it gets looked at.

And I shall update this thread once information is received.

Edit: Added info.

Quick update.

Apparently it's the first time something like this has been reported in the area.

The incident was reported by more than twenty people; there is mobile phone footage as well as CCTV of the incident.

A motorcycle traffic policeman has been posted at the bus stop when resources have allowed (I've seen this myself).

So far no more incidents have been reported.

Investigations are ongoing.

Not from the horses mouth, but someone who has access to the teeth.

Unfortunately I can't credit the source for various reasons.
