Worst service from Eagle Canyon Cycles

Recommended Posts

And that's why I believe that when you experience bad service, just suck it up and take your business elsewhere. Happened to me a view times. No point in complaining as you are the unfortunate one.

PS. don't let this experience ruin your cycling days, enjoy!

WARNING TO ALL.

Last year December I went and purchased a wonderful 2nd hand bike from Eagle Canyon Cycles in Johannesburg. A few minor things needed to be fixed which the shop were happy to do and leaving for the last time they assured me that I should come back if there are any other problems with the bike. I flew myself and the bike down to Cape Town and after 3 weeks of riding a spoke had broken. Taking the bike to a local shop in CT, they had removed the wheels and shown me that both rims were cracked right down the middle.(There is no way I could have broken those rims like that, I'm at the most beginning level of riding and couldn't go faster than a granny walking down a hill). With myself being in cape town, my grandfather up in Johannesburg had gone to Eagle Canyon Cycles and informed them regarding what we have found to be wrong on the bike. An older gentlemen who I believe to be the father of the son who owns the shop, had said that we would have to send the rims up to them and they would sort it out for us. After sending the rims up, my grandfather had taken them to the shop and shown them. The young shop owner (which I think is Chans or something like that) had disrespectfully dismissed my grandfather that they would not repair/replace the rims. After my grandfather trying to reason and have a mature discussion as adults, the shop owner had been blatantly rude and walked away, leaving my grandfather standing alone in the shop with no help or mutual forward steps.

Then Going to cycle lab after almost 2 months and R2000 later I have had to do an entire redo so that the rims are ready to ride.

I inform anyone reading this, if you are buying anything from Eagle Canyon Cycles, (especially a bike) check that bike first and make sure you know it better than your naked body.

They don't seem to have any values of customer service or at least the respect to talk to someone with dignity.

Sad but true.

Yeah, I’m not a supporter of the “just suck it up” model. Complaining is not only good for the community, it is also good for the shop to get feedback, positive or negative.

Direct feedback would usually be the more acceptable manner, but often this is discarded by shops (people who give bad service often know they give it and don’t care) so public feedback sometimes carries greater weight. There is a caveat, and that is the person doing the public feedback should do so in a constructive manner.

Been to ECC about 20 times now.

Excellent service everytime..

While inZA I had to pop in here a couple of times. Truly excellent service from Chaunce an the techs.

What are the Chaunces the only reason you are getting that excellent service is due to all the complaints & partly because of this thread? Edited by milky4130

Remember when Tony, Henri and Jacque used to have their shop there?

Wendy bought her GT MTB from them and we've never had a problem wth it.

Have had nothing but good service there, couple of emergencies where they really went the extra mile.

I have been supporting them for a while now for consumables.

  • 1 year later...

After many miles a niggling problem with a part showed up on my bike, get new one from Eagle Canyon and replace the part, it breaks again soon afterwards. Get another, ask them just in case if they had similar problems with other riders, no. I tried my best to sort out the cause, could not pinpoint, so I keep on going back to try and get guidance what to do. But old man Conrad everytime gets his workshop to fit the new part for me. When this happens the fifth time, I again ask is there is something I do wrong, apparently not, but again Conrad fits the part for me and this time refuses to charge for the new part. I tried my best to pay but he won't take the money. Thanks Conrad, I just hope some of your good attitude rubs off on the youngster that helps you.

5 times!!!! Sound like they replaced the part 4 times too many...

How many times were you charged for a replacement? And what exactly were you replacing?

Are EC not just supplying the part which is manufactured by some company? They continued to replace it in good faith even though not their fault.... what part was it?

What part is it and what has been do e to determine the root cause?

Let us see if we can solve the issue once and for all.

My note is not concerning the part I kept on damaging, it is about Conrad continuously assisting a stupid client without getting upset.
